After twelve years of dedicated service, Matthias Matti was officially bid farewell at this year’s general meeting of Bergbahnen Destination Gstaad (BDG). During his decade-plus tenure, Matti served as a pivotal stabilizing force for the alpine transit operator. Board President Jan Brand praised him as a quintessential "bridge builder" who guided the company through a critical phase of financial restructuring, oversaw key modernizations, and built durable connections between the cable car network, local municipalities, regional tourism bodies, and political stakeholders.
Stepping into the vacant board seat is local executive Andreas Poschung, whose election brings a specialized blend of deep industry expertise and financial acumen back to the leadership team.
Technical Expertise Meets Financial Leadership
Poschung’s appointment bridges real-world technical ops with commercial banking. His career highlights include:
Garaventa Leadership: Formerly managed worldwide outdoor assembly for international ropeway giant Garaventa, overseeing complex infrastructure builds globally.
BDG Familiarity: Holds prior hands-on experience within the Gstaad mountain railway system itself.
Banking Executive: Currently serves as the branch manager for Raiffeisenbank Simmental-Saanenland in Gstaad, linking technical ropeway knowledge with local market finance.
Poschung takes his seat as Bergbahnen Destination Gstaad continues to refine its year-round mountain infrastructure and elevate guest experience across the Saanenland region.
