Moon Boot’s global e-commerce reset puts logistics at the center

Tecnica Group is pairing a Shopify platform with cross-border commerce and fulfillment services as the winter-footwear brand expands direct sales across key markets. The bigger test will be whether a simpler back end can deliver a more local-feeling customer experience.

Moon Boot’s international growth plan is taking shape behind the scenes: the brand is moving its online store from Salesforce Commerce to Shopify and connecting it to ESW’s cross-border commerce and logistics services. The arrangement brings platform, fulfillment, shipping, returns, localization and Merchant of Record services into a coordinated model, rather than requiring Moon Boot to build each market’s operations separately.

The shift is more than a software swap. Selling directly to customers in multiple countries means coordinating storefronts with the less visible work of cross-border retail: getting orders delivered, handling returns and managing the commercial requirements of each market. The companies say the model is intended to support international sales without Moon Boot needing to establish local legal entities.

The project is already further along than the initial announcement alone suggests. Arsenalia, the systems integrator leading the Shopify replatforming, says the Shopify Plus store went live on September 3, 2026. Its account describes an ecosystem using Shopify Markets, ESW as Merchant of Record, SAP CPI to connect backend systems and Salsify for product information. Arsenalia says the platform was designed to serve the U.S. and EMEA markets.

A separate report says Moon Boot is live with ESW in the United States, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada and Spain, with plans to extend the relationship to other Tecnica Group brands. That suggests the effort is not simply a technical migration: it is also a way to consolidate the operating pieces of cross-border direct-to-consumer sales, with the potential to become a template for the wider group.

For Moon Boot, the commercial opportunity rests on an unusual mix of product heritage and contemporary fashion appeal. Tecnica Group describes the boot as an après-ski design that has crossed into city wear, fashion runways and modern art museums; the group says more than 25 million pairs have been sold worldwide. That broad cultural footprint gives the brand a reason to reach shoppers well beyond traditional ski destinations—but a recognizable product alone does not make buying it across borders effortless.

Localization is therefore central to the promise. A global store must do more than accept orders from abroad; it needs to make the buying and post-purchase experience work for customers in different markets. Moon Boot’s e-commerce strategy and operations manager, Andrea Antonioli, said the company wanted a model that could handle the complexity of serving customers across markets while remaining flexible as the business grows. ESW’s own description of its Shopify services highlights localized checkout, international fulfillment and returns as parts of that proposition.

There is a strategic trade-off in this approach. Outsourcing cross-border capabilities can reduce the need to assemble separate systems and local operations market by market, while leaving the brand focused on its products and customer-facing experience. But the quality of the result will depend on how well the pieces work together in practice—especially delivery, returns and checkout—not simply on the number of countries a store can technically serve. The available reports describe the model and rollout, but do not provide performance data such as conversion, delivery times or return rates.

The project also comes as Tecnica Group has a range of brands that could benefit from shared digital infrastructure. Its portfolio includes Moon Boot, Rollerblade, Tecnica, Nordica, Blizzard and LOWA; ESW says the partnership could expand to other group brands. For now, Moon Boot is the test case: a heritage winter label using a new commerce and logistics setup to support direct online business across borders.
