Calag: Another Calag cabin is going on a journey!

Calag is currently building another train set – consisting of two cabins – for the Pilatus Railway and on behalf of Stadler. The first of the two cabins has already been loaded in Langenthal and has left the factory.
The Pilatus Railway (German: Pilatusbahn, PB) is a mountain railway in Switzerland and the steepest rack railway in the world, with a maximum gradient of 48% and an average gradient of 35%. The line runs from Alpnachstad, on Lake Alpnach, to a terminus near the Esel summit of Pilatus at an elevation of 2,073 m (6,801 ft), which makes it the highest railway in the canton of Obwalden and the second highest in Central Switzerland after the Furka line. At Alpnachstad, the Pilatus Railway connects with steamers on Lake Lucerne and with trains on the Brünigbahn line of Zentralbahn.
It will now be transported by low-loader from Rö-Trans AG to the Stadler plant, where the cabins will be assembled with the chassis before finally entering service in Alpnachstad on the panoramic route up to Mount Pilatus.
It's always a wonderful moment when a finished cabin leaves the factory and the cabin construction team gathers for a final photo. Especially with a project like this, countless hours of work, a great deal of craftsmanship, and many a sweaty hour go into each cabin. That makes it all the more satisfying to see the finished product and know that all the effort was worthwhile – and that our work will be part of the excursion experience for countless passengers and tourists in the future.
