TechnoAlpin Installs State-of-the-art snowmaking at Nýrsko
06/August/2026
In the town of Nýrsko in the Pilsen Region of the Czech Republic, near the German border, there is a brand-new sports complex offering modern facilities for summer and winter activities. In winter, the complex is dedicated to Nordic skiing and cross-country skiing.
To ensure optimal snow conditions on the 2.5 km of cross-country trails, snowmaking was integrated into the planning from the outset. A reliable and dependable snowmaking system was considered essential for Nýrsko, especially in light of the cross-country skiing competitions of the 12th Winter Olympics for Children and Adolescents, which will be organized by the Pilsen Region and held in the town in January 2027.
Following a rigorous selection process, TechnoAlpin was awarded the contract by the city for the planning, technical design, equipment supply, and construction supervision of the project. A particular challenge of this turnkey project lay in both the need to maintain the existing inline skating track, used in the summer, throughout the entire construction phase and the very tight schedule. The snowmaking system had to be completed and operational by Christmas 2025 to allow sufficient time to produce snow for the test events planned for February 2026 in the lead-up to the 2027 Winter Olympics for Children and Young People.
The centerpiece of this compact yet powerful and efficient snowmaking system is a containerized "plug & play" pump station developed by TechnoAlpin. It features a 15 l/s pump that draws water from the local river. The pumping station supplies water to 10 snowmaking pits, all equipped for mobile propeller snow blowers and connected by 1,300 meters of high-quality Alpine water pipes. To ensure snow production, four TechnoAlpin TR9 mobile propeller snow blowers will be used, as the mobile version is particularly well-suited to this project. The TR9 is characterized by its highly efficient snowmaking performance in all weather conditions and is very easy to operate and move from one pit to the next.
TechnoAlpin is proud to have supported the city of Nýrsko in this important project. Our team worked diligently to meet the deadline while delivering a customized, state-of-the-art solution that will contribute to the long-term success of the city's new sports complex.
