13 new apprentices start at Garaventa

Garaventa invests strategically in training its own skilled workers and currently trains 52 apprentices in eight different professions. With the start of apprenticeships in 2026, 13 new apprentices have begun their training.

The new apprentices will be trained at the Goldau, Uetendorf, and Oberdorf locations. The company currently has a total of 52 apprentices. Training its own skilled workers is a high priority for the Swiss cable car manufacturer: Through targeted investments in vocational training, Garaventa secures essential expertise for the planning, construction, and modernization of cable cars. Many former apprentices remain with Garaventa after completing their apprenticeships. This year, six out of ten graduates continued their careers at Garaventa.

Wide range of training opportunities

Garaventa offers apprenticeships in a total of eight different professions. These apprenticeships range from development and design to manufacturing and assembly, as well as electronics, automation, IT, and administration. This gives apprentices insights into the diverse activities of a cable car company.

“Behind every cable car are experts from a wide variety of fields. With apprenticeships in eight different trades, we offer diverse entry opportunities into the fascinating world of cable car construction. Our goal is to give apprentices responsibility from the very beginning and to actively involve them in the projects,” says Garaventa CEO Arno Inauen.

Last Friday, the new apprentices kicked off their professional lives with an orientation day at Garaventa. In addition to a company presentation and a tour of the plant in Goldau, the day offered an opportunity to make initial contacts and get to know the company. A special highlight this year, as in previous years, was a visit to the Stoosbahn cable car, where the apprentices got a behind-the-scenes look at a cable car system.
