Flumserberg Ends Positive Winter
24/April/2026
After 134 days of winter sports operations, the 2025/26 winter season at Flumserberg came to an end. Despite the challenging snow conditions, especially over the major holidays, the Flumserberg mountain railways, with their three business segments – ticket sales, restaurants, and sports shops – are reporting a pleasingly positive result and are significantly above the five-year average in terms of revenue. 550,000 guests visited Flumserberg and took advantage of the diverse winter sports offerings, such as skiing, sledding, cross-country skiing, and winter hiking.
The winter of 2025/26 was characterized by abundant sunshine. Fog often blanketed the lowlands, while the sun shone brightly on Flumserberg. During the final week of operation for the Flumserberg cable cars (BBF), another 60 cm of fresh snow fell. This, combined with the sunny Easter holidays, made for a perfect end to the season on Flumserberg. Many guests took advantage of this last opportunity to enjoy the winter sports facilities and the sunny terraces of the restaurants. On Good Friday, more than 7,000 visitors were in the area.
Second-best season
Despite relatively little snowfall throughout the season, the staff's tremendous efforts ensured excellent slopes. The 2025/26 winter season was the second-best in the last five years in terms of revenue. January's revenue even rivaled the exceptionally strong January of 2025. Over the holidays, the Flumserberg mountain railway staff launched creative offerings, once again demonstrating their flexibility. In addition to skiing on the main slopes, they offered alpaca trekking, yoga at over 2,000 meters, bouncy castles, and electric snowmobile rides. The organizers received numerous positive comments from guests.
Arrival by public transport is important
The busiest days were recorded on weekends in January and February. For example, over 11,000 guests visited Flumserberg on January 18, 2026. Approximately one-third of them traveled by public transport – train and gondola via Unterterzen or postal bus via Flums. The good and direct train connection to Unterterzen and the newly introduced half-hourly postal bus service from Flums are highly valued by guests for their comfortable and traffic-free journeys.
Guests appreciate the diverse culinary offerings and the rental options.
The Flumserberg mountain lifts operate seven restaurants and four sports shops. Both business areas report a positive season – even compared to the strong previous year. Maik Kunz, Managing Director of BBF Gastro AG and member of the BBF management team, explains: "In sunny March, locals and holiday home guests especially benefited from the diverse culinary offerings of the various mountain restaurants on the slopes." Several music events, such as the Panüöl Stubete and the Chrüz season-ending festival, encouraged guests to linger longer on the terraces, enjoying themselves and swaying to the music. Demand for rental equipment in the sports shops remains consistently high. Fabrice Mullis, member of the Flumserberg mountain lifts management team and responsible for the sports shops of the INTERSPORT Network Flumserberg, adds: "The top-quality rental equipment is highly valued, and the Prodalp test center also sees an increase in business every year. Testing and comparing skis before buying them is very valuable for our guests."
The summer season starts at Pentecost.
The Flumserberg mountain lifts will begin partial operation for the summer season over the Pentecost weekend, May 23-25, 2026. Tobogganing, climbing, biking, and hiking up to 1500 meters are expected to be available. Daily operation, including the BergJet gondola, will commence on June 6, 2026. The Flumserberg Open Air will once again be a highlight of the summer season. Trauffer will perform at the legendary Schlager Open Air on July 31, 2026. A family day will be held for the first time on July 30, 2026, featuring singer-songwriter Linard Bardill, a Schwiizergoofe workshop, a mascot parade, and many other activities for children. On Swiss National Day, the Genderbüebu, Rusch-Büeblä, and many others will perform at the Edelweiss Open Air.
