White Arena Holds A Day of Appreciation - Anniversary and Retirement Dinner for the 2025/26 Financial Year

A special occasion for special people: This year's anniversary and pensioners' dinner of the Weisse Arena Group revolved around gratitude, shared memories and celebrating long-standing relationships.

Even during the aperitif at the Camino Bar, it became clear what the day was truly about: heartfelt encounters. The four retirees and 20 employees celebrating anniversaries toasted together, laughed, shared memories, and relived stories. The atmosphere was warm and vibrant – created by people connected by far more than just their workplace: a shared journey full of commitment and passion.

During his thank-you speech, Reto Gurtner emphasized how much the Weisse Arena Group thrives on the dedication, loyalty, and exceptional commitment of its employees. He then personally congratulated the retirees and presented them with a farewell gift as a token of appreciation.

Through their daily dedication and their stories, each and every employee shapes the Weisse Arena Group in a very personal way. We would like to introduce two of these employees in more detail.

Uwe Reisdorf, a loyal employee with 20 years at WAG said  "I came to the Weisse Arena Group by chance – I stayed because of the people. I felt comfortable here from the very beginning and I really appreciate being able to simply be myself."

I got my first job in a rather unusual way: I wasn't too tall for the kitchen in Larnags, where the ceiling was quite low. That was apparently an important hiring criterion, and that's how I got the job. From there, my path led me through various companies until I finally arrived in the human resources department, where I work today.

I would describe my time at WAG as follows: no stagnation, educational and characterized by freedom.

One particular moment from August 1996 has stayed with me to this day: I was standing near the entrance to the cable car in Laax, where the rocksresort is located today. Suddenly, people in ski boots clattered past me. I wondered what was going on until I realized: they were going up the Vorab Glacier! Back then, it was still open for summer skiing. A moment I will never forget.

Ignaz Demarmels, newly retired said  "Five years ago, I came across this position rather by chance. What began as a spontaneous opportunity quickly developed into a place where I truly feel at home."

My first day working in infrastructure remains vivid in my memory: exciting, intense, and full of new impressions. There was a lot of information, much to discover, and that feeling of being welcome. From the very beginning, I experienced WAG as an innovative employer, open to new ideas and characterized by a strong sense of community. As a result, I settled in very quickly.

If I had to describe my time here briefly and concisely, I would say the following: educational, very collegial, and simply fun. It is precisely this combination that characterized my daily work and made WAG so special to me.

Today, as a pensioner, I look back on these years with great gratitude and am pleased to continue working part-time for WAG.”
