Valle Nevado is kicking off September with a full slate of events that showcase another side of the resort, from mountain wellness and international freestyle competition to one of Chile’s biggest cultural celebrations. And after more than 17 feet of snow this season, there’s still plenty of skiing and riding to go with it.

Over the next several weeks, guests can pair spring skiing in the Andes with a high-altitude wellness weekend, watch international freeski and snowboard athletes compete in the FIS South American Cup, and experience Fiestas Patrias, Chile’s national independence celebration.

For North American skiers and riders, September's event lineup offers a snapshot of what makes a trip to Valle Nevado about more than the skiing: strong spring conditions paired with international competition and distinctly Chilean experiences high in the Andes.

Wellness Weekend | Sept. 5–6

Valle Nevado will bring wellness to the slopes with two days of programming including the Wim Hof Breathing Method, ski-accessed mindfulness, sound healing, yoga and stretching.

Andes Cup | Sept. 7–11

The Valle Nevado Snowpark will host a stop on the FIS South American Cup, with freeski and snowboard athletes competing in Slopestyle and Big Air events.

Fiestas Patrias | Sept. 18–19

One of Chile’s biggest annual celebrations comes to the mountain with traditional Chilean food, live music, folk dancing and other festivities marking the country’s independence celebrations.

In the 1970s, a vision was born: to create a ski resort with the best snow in the world. A decade later, in 1987, Valle Nevado took shape at 9,924 feet above sea level, in a south-facing valley (33°21’16.92″S / -70°14’59.28″W), an ideal location to receive the finest snow the Andes have to offer. However, nature had other plans. That winter, heavy snowfall delayed the grand opening, pushing it to June 1988. For more than 36 years, Valle Nevado has been home to the best snow in the Southern Hemisphere, evolving into a premier destination with slopes for all levels, world-class heli-skiing, luxury hotels, real estate developments, fine dining, and mountain activities for snow lovers. Through it all, snow has remained at the heart of Valle Nevado’s story, shaping its past, present, and future.
