A New Way to Après in the Andes: Valle Nevado’s Sunset Snowcat
08/September/2026
Valle Nevado is giving guests a new way to experience the Andes after the ski day ends with the launch of its Sunset Snowcat, an intimate evening excursion that takes guests high above the resort for one of Chile’s striking Andean sunsets.
The experience includes a scenic snowcat climb to the Ancla summit, where guests can enjoy Chilean-inspired food and beverages while watching the sun set over Valle Nevado and the surrounding peaks. The evening concludes with a snowcat ride back down the mountain.
Designed for both skiers and non-skiers, the pedestrian-only experience accommodates up to 12 passengers. Departures take place between 5:30 and 6 p.m., with the tour concluding between 7 and 7:30 p.m.
Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, and a minimum of four passengers is required. Excursions are subject to weather, route conditions and the operational assessment of Valle Nevado’s mountain team. Reservations can be made at the Valle Nevado Ski School.
The Sunset Snowcat adds another dimension to a stay at Valle Nevado, giving guests a unique perspective of the Andes after the lifts close, with food, drinks and one of Chile’s memorable sunsets as the backdrop. The excursion is particularly well suited for couples, families and groups looking for an evening activity that doesn’t require skis or snowboards.
For skiers and snowboarders looking to venture even farther into the Andes, Valle Nevado Heliski continues to operate from the resort, offering access to more than 300,000 acres of terrain, with some of the first runs just a five-minute flight away. Offered at Valle Nevado since 1988, heli-skiing is available for intermediate through expert skiers and snowboarders, with guides selecting terrain based on ability, preferences and daily conditions. Programs range from a one-day introduction to a full week of heli-skiing.
