Paznaun Valley is preparing for winter 2026/27

With new mountain lifts, an exceptionally early start to the cross-country skiing season, and attractive offers for families and up-and-coming freestyle skiers, the Paznaun Valley is kicking off the 2026/27 winter season. In Ischgl and Galtür, extensive investments in comfort and infrastructure are planned. Kappl is expanding its winter sports offerings with a new snow park and two freestyle camps for young ski and snowboard enthusiasts. In See, a free ski course for preschool children in March 2027 and ice climbing on the Bergliswand will add new highlights for families and mountain sports enthusiasts.

The Paznaun Valley is launching into the 2026/27 winter season with numerous innovations, focusing on increased comfort, modern infrastructure, and attractive offers for families, cross-country skiers, freestyle enthusiasts, and ambitious mountain sports enthusiasts. In Ischgl, the new Höllkarbahn C2 cable car provides faster and more comfortable transport within the ski area. Galtür is investing in the further development of the Silvapark with the Kopsseebahn cable car and, thanks to a snow depot, will offer the first cross-country skiing kilometers in the Vermunt area as early as the beginning of November. Kappl is expanding its offerings with a new snow park and two freestyle camps, while See is creating new family and activity options with a free ski course for toddlers in March 2027 and ice climbing on the Bergliswand. The four Paznaun villages are thus presenting a diverse winter program that combines technical innovations, an early start to the season, and family-friendly alpine experiences.

Ischgl: New Höllkarbahn C2 cable car provides more comfort

The new Höllkarbahn C2 chairlift will open in the Silvretta Arena Ischgl/Samnaun in winter 2026/27. This detachable 8-seater chairlift from Doppelmayr's D-Line replaces the existing Höllkarbahn and offers weather protection hoods, heated seats, and state-of-the-art entry and exit monitoring.

The new lift runs 1,650 meters from the valley station at 2,141 meters to the mountain station at 2,468 meters above sea level. With 89 chairs and a capacity of up to 4,200 people per hour, it reduces the journey time to approximately 5.1 minutes. The backs of the chairs are themed, telling the story of Silvrettaseilbahn AG.

The new Höllkarbahn is part of a comprehensive modernization program: Together with the already renewed Höllbodenbahn C1 and the Sassgalunbahn C3, Silvrettaseilbahn AG is investing more than 50 million euros in additional comfort and improved visitor management in the ski area.

Twinliner in Samnaun is also undergoing extensive modernization.

Investment is also underway on the Samnaun side of the Silvretta Arena: The Twinliner L1, built in 1995, is undergoing a comprehensive modernization. This includes replacing both cabins and upgrading the cable car control system and automatic platform screen doors to the latest technology. In the future, the system will also be designed to operate with unattended cabins.

Galtür: New Kopssee cable car replaces two ski lifts

In the Silvapark Galtür area, a detachable 6-seater chairlift with weather protection hoods is being built in the Kopssee area and will go into operation in the winter of 2026/27. The new Kopssee lift will replace the existing Kopssee lifts I and II and will increase comfort and quality.

The lift will be equipped with a total of 56 chairs and will have a transport capacity of approximately 2,400 people per hour. It will run along a sloping track of 1,125 meters from the valley station at 1,827 meters to the mountain station at 2,144 meters above sea level.

The new Kopssee cable car uses the existing Höllkar cable car from Ischgl. After its dismantling, the system underwent a comprehensive overhaul, technical upgrades, and was then re-erected in Galtür. This gives a proven cable car system a new purpose within the Paznaun Valley.

Cross-country skiing in Galtür starts as early as the beginning of November

Galtür aims to offer cross-country skiers a particularly early start to the 2026/27 winter season. With the help of a snow depot, a roughly five-kilometer-long cross-country ski trail in the Vermunt area should be available as early as November 5, 2026.

This offer provides early training opportunities for ambitious cross-country skiers and allows guests to cover their first kilometers on cross-country skis even before the start of the winter season. Galtür is thus further strengthening its position as a high-altitude cross-country skiing destination with a long season.

Kappl: New snow park and freestyle for young talent

A new snowpark is being built in Kappl, featuring several areas for different skill levels. Part of the snowpark is the "SunnyCross," a cross-country course with rollers, banked turns, and special obstacles where winter sports enthusiasts can playfully compete against each other. Beginner-friendly features like boxes and kickers, as well as other highlights including a rainbow bridge, round out the offerings, providing families, children, and freestyle fans with diverse opportunities to gain initial experience and further develop their skills.

In addition, two new two-day freestyle camps for children and teenagers are on the program for winter 2026/27. The Shred Kids Freestyle Camps will take place on December 19th and 20th, 2026, and March 20th and 21st, 2027. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, the young participants will work on their technique, style, and new tricks in small groups divided by age and skill level. Families can take advantage of a particularly attractive offer in March 2027: From March 6th to 20th, 2027, children up to 6.99 years old who are not yet of school age will receive a free ski course on four half-days when staying at a FAMILY PLUS partner establishment. Another winter adventure awaits mountaineers at the Bergliswand icefall, also known as the Black Wall. The diverse terrain offers both moderate lines for less experienced ice climbers and more challenging ice and mixed routes. The starting point is at an altitude of approximately 2,100 meters and can be reached from the Medrigjochbahn mountain station in about 90 minutes.
