Closer integration of mountain railways and destinations as Stefan Egenter joins the management of Allgäu-Tirol-Bergwelt GmbH
05/September/2026
Allgäu-Tirol-Bergwelt GmbH (ATB) is strengthening its management team: Stefan Egenter, Managing Director of Allgäu GmbH, was appointed Co-Managing Director of ATB at the shareholders' meeting.
Egenter will now lead the company jointly with the previous ATB managing director, Klaus Gehrer (Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahn AG). With this addition, ATB is focusing on continuity, an even closer connection between mountain railways and destinations, and a consistent focus on sustainable year-round tourism.
Two perspectives, one shared development
The management team will combine two perspectives going forward: Klaus Gehrer will continue to contribute his operational expertise and entrepreneurial experience. Stefan Egenter will complement Allgäu-Tirol-Bergwelt GmbH with destination, brand, and strategy expertise. This will further deepen the successful collaboration between the mountain railways and the destination.
Cross-border cooperation and strengthening of year-round tourism
ATB sees itself as a cross-border platform for mountain railways in the Allgäu, Tyrol, and Kleinwalsertal valleys. Its first joint products, the Superschnee ski pass and the Allgäu Glacier Card, have been complemented by the Allgäu 365+ year-round ticket. Further promoting year-round tourism is a key strategic goal of the strengthened management: mountain railways are increasingly recognized as crucial infrastructure for mountain experiences in all four seasons. Snow and skiing remain essential core offerings, but will be complemented by attractive spring, summer, and autumn concepts. The joint development of existing integrated products and the strengthening of sales and digitalization are also key priorities.
"Mountain railways are a central component of our living environment and indispensable for a successful year-round destination. I look forward to working with Klaus Gehrer and our partners to further develop the offerings and to connect mountain railways and destinations even more closely. Snow and skiing remain important, but at the same time, we want to increasingly consider the mountains and mountain experiences as year-round experiences," explains Stefan Egenter, Managing Director of Allgäu GmbH and ATB GmbH.
Ralf Speck, Managing Director of the Alpspitzbahn in Nesselwang and Chairman of the Advisory Board of ATB GmbH, affirms: “With Klaus Gehrer and Stefan Egenter, the management will combine many years of mountain railway expertise with experience in brand management and tourism development. This is an excellent foundation for jointly continuing the year-round focus of the Allgäu-Tirol mountain region.”
