Gerlitzen: Construction progress of the 10-person gondola lift II
August is packed with events – and brings HUGE progress on the new 10-person gondola lift II!
In just a few days, an incredible amount has happened again at the construction site:
August 10 – Cable installation:
The Pommegger company is in the middle of the cable installation work for the new 10-person gondola lift Kanzelbahn II. First, a 12 mm auxiliary cable is pulled in, then a 24 mm auxiliary cable, and finally the final haul rope with a diameter of an impressive 52 mm is installed.
August 11 – Transformer Power Supply:
The new Kanzelbahn II cable car is getting POWER! Two transformers, each weighing 2,050 kg and with a capacity of 630 kVA, will provide the necessary power supply for the system in the future.
August 12 – The deflection pulley is turning!
A very special moment: During the cable pulling work, the deflection pulley in the mountain station is turning for the very first time – initially still completely without electricity or drive.
August 13 – Rope splicing.
Now it gets really exciting: The new lift rope is joined to form an endless rope. For this, the six so-called "strands" are twisted apart over a length of approximately 38 meters and then intricately interwoven.
Precision work, a wealth of know-how, employees giving their ALL and another huge milestone on the way to the new Kanzelbahn II.
Step by step, we are getting closer to the big goal: NEW cabins that will comfortably take you from Kanzelhöhe to the Gerlitzen summit in the future.
