Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Pass: Second winter a complete success

The second winter season of the Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Pass, the joint season ticket for ten ski resorts in Lower Austria, was a resounding success. From the season's start with pre-openings on November 28, 2025, until Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, the 13,839 pass holders were able to enjoy snow sports on 125 open days. This year, 42.5 percent more Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Passes were issued than in the first winter season of the partnership in 2024/2025.

“The Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Pass was used by guests on an average of around ten ski days. At the Hochkar cable cars alone, there were approximately 45,000 uses, at the Ötscherlifte Lackenhof 26,000, and at the Annaberg lifts 25,000. Visits by guests with the Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Pass account for around a quarter of all first-time entries at these three ski resorts,” says Karl Weber, Managing Director of the Annaberg lifts and coordinator of the Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Pass Association.

The vast majority of all Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Passes, around 97 percent, were already issued during the so-called super pre-sale, which ran until October 31, 2025. Anyone who purchased an adult pass for €410 during this period received a free Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Pass for all children under eleven years of age, and for all children under sixteen years of age when purchasing two passes.

“This winter season, 4,965 Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Passes were issued free of charge to families – equivalent to €1,425,000 in support. This enables many children to learn to ski and spend valuable time in our mountains. This offer not only benefits families but also strengthens winter sports in Lower Austria as a whole. It shows that our Lower Austrian Mountain Adventure Pass is a particularly attractive and affordable offer for local families,” said Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, who is responsible for tourism.

On Easter Monday, Hochkar became the last ski resort in Lower Austria to close for the winter season. The new managing director of Hochkar & Ötscher Tourismus GmbH, Veronika Nutz, is pleased with the results: “As in the previous winter, we struggled with a lack of natural snow on the Hochkar for much of the season – hard to believe given the amount that fell during Easter week. However, thanks to the excellent snow management by our piste team and a bit of luck with the weather in December, we were able to offer our guests all the snow-covered slopes in outstanding condition for 123 days of operation. With more than 191,000 visits, we are continuing the successful pre-winter season.”
