The state of Upper Austria is providing 1.1 million euros for immediate measures at Kasberg.

The Upper Austrian state government, at the request of Governor Thomas Stelzer and Economic Affairs Minister Markus Achleitner, has approved up to €1.1 million for urgently needed preparatory measures at the Kasberg cable car station. These funds will enable the Upper Austrian cable car holding company to finance, in particular, the salaries of its permanent staff, necessary maintenance and repair work, and other operationally essential measures. The goal is to ensure the necessary conditions for potential winter operations in the 2026/27 season. "This is an important step in securing the future of the Kasberg. The company cannot currently finance the necessary preparatory measures on its own. These immediate measures create the conditions for the required work to be implemented in a timely manner," emphasized Governor Thomas Stelzer. "A final decision regarding the takeover will be made once all legal, economic, and regulatory requirements have been met," added Minister Achleitner.
The funds will be earmarked for immediate measures necessary to prepare for an orderly takeover of the ski resort in autumn 2026 by the Upper Austrian cable car holding company or an affiliated company. A final decision on the takeover will be made once all legal, economic, and regulatory requirements have been met.
“Our aim is to take responsibility and implement the necessary steps now to ensure a future for the Kasberg. The Kasberg is far more than just a ski resort – it is a vital recreational, tourism, and economic driver for the region. It plays a significant role, especially for families, day-trippers, and winter tourism in Upper Austria. Furthermore, the Kasberg is an important place for many clubs, schools, and youth sports programs, fostering a sense of community and promoting enthusiasm for exercise and sports. Therefore, our goal remains to create a sustainable and long-term perspective together,” said Governor Thomas Stelzer.
