Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) commemorates Siegfried Pilser

Long-time official "Sigi" Pilser passed away on April 26, 2026, at the age of 95. He was a co-founder of the Austrian Ski Federation's (ÖSV) piste maintenance program.

The Austrian Ski Federation and the entire Tyrolean ski community mourn the passing of Sigi Pilser, who died at the age of 95. With his death, Austrian skiing loses a personality whose commitment, passion, and energy were palpable for decades.

Sigi Pilser was associated with the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) for more than 60 years – as a member, official, organizer, and tireless contributor. For over 30 years, he shaped the Tyrolean Ski Association as its representative for training and tourism, and for 20 years he served as the ÖSV's representative for slope maintenance. His work was comprehensive, his dedication exceptional.

In 1993, "Sigi" co-founded the Austrian Ski Federation's (ÖSV) slope maintenance service and helped establish it in Tyrol, Upper Austria, and Carinthia. His heart remained with this organization until the very end.

From 1968 onwards, "Sigi" organized countless ski weeks and weekends in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and France for members of the ski association – for a quarter of a century. Many ski enthusiasts associate these trips with their fondest memories, and quite a few discovered new regions, met new people, and forged friendships through him.

Sigi Pilser was often described as a "jack-of-all-trades" among officials – and his work could hardly be more aptly described. In 1993, he co-founded the Austrian Ski Federation's (ÖSV) slope maintenance service, which he played a key role in establishing in Tyrol, Upper Austria, and Carinthia. His heart remained with this organization until the very end. With palpable pride, he regularly visited ski lifts throughout the country to deliver the specially made uniforms produced by the Schöffel company – a testament to his dedication and unwavering commitment.

His achievements did not go unnoticed: Sigi Pilser was a recipient of the Tyrolean Sports Badge of Honor in Gold, the Tyrolean Cross of Merit, the ÖSV and TSV Badge of Honor in Gold, and numerous other awards.

The Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV), the TSV (Turn- und Sportverein) and countless companions will remember Sigi Pilser with gratitude.
