Tatry Mountain Resorts Lease Operation of the Ještěd ski resort is extended for another 10 years

TMR will continue to operate the Ještěd ski resort into the next decade. On June 20, 2026, the company officially informed the city of Liberec, from which it has leased the resort since 2017, of this decision.
“All our previous investments have paid off. This was confirmed by the past winter season, which was one of the most successful in the ski resort's history. For the first time since the takeover by TMR, we were able to open the season as early as the end of November, which contributed to record visitor numbers. We want to build on this success. Our priority for the coming years will be to invest in tourism and sports infrastructure that can be used all year round,” said Max Gottfried, Head of International Activities at TMR.
Key factors in TMR's decision included not only the publicly announced plans to reconstruct the iconic Ještěd TV tower, but also the preparations for the construction of a new cable car.
“We are convinced that through constructive cooperation with the local authorities, we can transform Ještěd into a sought-after, year-round mountain resort within the next ten years. This will offer residents, visitors, the town and the entire region an exceptional destination for leisure, recreation and sport,” Gottfried added.
To date, TMR has invested more than 150 million CZK in the development of the ski resort. The most significant project was the construction of the completely new family ski slope "Nová Skalka," which opened in the 2020/21 winter season. A year later, the slope was also equipped with a state-of-the-art floodlight system. Other key investments include the unique TechnoAlpin SnowFactory technology, which enables the Ještěd ski resort to produce and store sufficient snow even at temperatures above freezing.
The Ještěd ski resort boasts a long sporting tradition and enjoys an excellent reputation as an urban ski area with a uniquely large catchment area. Its appeal as a year-round resort is further enhanced by its excellent accessibility within the North Bohemian region. The ski area offers 33 hectares of slopes for all skill levels, served by three cable cars, five ski lifts, and magic carpets for beginners. Ještěd also features a bike park with two flow trails and a dedicated skills zone. Leisure cyclists can enjoy 13 kilometers of cycling paths in the surrounding area.
TMR has leased and operated the resort since December 22, 2017, under a ten-year lease agreement that included an option for a further ten years. The company has now officially exercised this option.
