Summer’s waiting in the Austrian Tyrol, and Significant Planning’s afoot for Seasons Ahead

Schlosshotel Fiss - the much-praised 5-star, family-friendly hotel in Austria’s popular Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis region - is renowned for its exceptional blend of year-round alpine adventure as well as relaxation….

This summer, families fixed on Tyrolian adventure can hike, bike, take advantage of the Super Summer Card with access to infinitely-connected mountain lifts, borrow free push chairs for smaller children and enjoy complimentary guided-hikes before kicking back in the pools and spas. The mountain summer-season also features festivals including live music every Monday evening at Kulturhaus Fiss.

But the hotel doesn’t stand still: there are significant plans both for Winter 2026 and Summer 2027...

Ski in & out / new sports shop and storage system

Work also continues on exciting new ventures for the winter season, including a new sports shop for ski and snowboard rental, and a new ski depot with innovative smart storage systems designed to keep equipment not just safe but warm and dry. There will also be a brand new slope entrance with two ski-in & ski-out lifts allowing guests speedy and direct access to the slopes.

PeaX Adventure Zone

In summer 2027 the hotel’s expansion continues with a new building - The PeaX Adventure Zone – creating an entirely unique adventure world intentionally designed to appeal to older children and teenagers – giving them their own space to explore, move and play. The Zone will span around 2,300 square meters with a narratively-designed play and movement landscape that connects architecture, nature and imagination. With indoor and outdoor spaces to span the seasons, there will be nets, bridges, and climbing areas, supervised activities as well as areas for independent play, exploration and learning new skills, a creative kitchen, Valo jump space, a rope course, fitness trails, outdoor slides and a Bobby car track; all creating space for different age groups and needs.

This is an exciting new project for hotel owner and Managing Director at Schlosshotel Fiss, Simone Domenig, commenting “each of us can – more or less well – remember how our interests changed as we grew older: what was cool yesterday suddenly feels boring or childish today. We want something extraordinary, with impressive architecture and a wow effect that truly excites and engages the kids. There won’t be a single straight wall in the entire space. This will be a place where kids can truly experience something new, try things out, and even learn something – in such an exciting and entertaining way that one visit definitely won’t be enough to discover everything.”

The new areas are designed by architectural firm Noa, integrating glacier-like light fissures, and a central crystal structure as an orientation point. “The two façades are inspired by crystalline structures: creating a fascinating interplay of light and shadow between protrusions and recesses. This geometric triangular principle continues inside, where the classic distinction between walls, floor, and ceiling dissolves. The space appears as a unified structure creating a connection between inside and outside and giving guests the feeling of moving through an alpine cave” (architect, Giulia Prevedello). Two mountain crystal patios create light-filled interiors and a jagged roofscape creates a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, with metal staircases forming bridges over ‘glacier crevasses’, all using materials including concrete, glass and steel as well as wood, stone and sand.

To complement the new youth areas, the hotel is launching a Kid’s Academy – a supervised programme of activities designed to introduce children to food in a playful away. The academy will encourage the whole family to get involved, not just the children, through cooking and baking classes. There will also be an atelier where all ages can do crafts, paint, and work with clay.

With new plans on the horizon for 2026/2027 Schlosshotel Fiss, is creating space for guests, especially kids to find their own adventure. It’s the kind of place families return to, knowing each visit will feel a little different and even more memorable than the last.
