Spring on the slopes - high altitude in the Zillertal makes it possible

Winter is currently showing no signs of letting go – and anyone who doesn't want to say goodbye to winter either will find the Zillertal Valley the perfect place. Perfectly groomed slopes, brilliant sunshine, and a diverse event program make skiing at Easter and beyond a true highlight .

The four major ski areas in the Zillertal Valley – the Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach ski region, Spieljoch, Hochfügen, the Zillertal Arena, Mountopolis, the Mayrhofen mountain lifts adventure world, and the Zillertal 3000 ski and glacier world – offer 546 kilometers of slopes and 180 state-of-the-art lifts, ensuring skiing fun well into April. Thanks to the high altitude of up to 3,250 meters and expert know-how, optimal slope and snow conditions prevail until the last day of operation.

The classic Zillertal experience: a sporty morning on freshly groomed slopes, followed by an afternoon relaxing on the panoramic terraces of mountain huts. In the Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach ski region, early bird skiing is offered, and in Mayrhofen, morning skiing on the Ahorn mountain allows skiers to make their first turns as early as 7:30 a.m. Every Thursday and Sunday in March, the skiing fun in the Zillertal Arena starts at 6:55 a.m.: Good Morning Skiing in March is a must for anyone who loves to soak up the morning sun. In Hintertux, early bird skiing, including a mountain breakfast, also offers a delightful start to the day from 7:30 a.m. Wherever you start, fine cuisine and relaxing drinks round off each ski day perfectly in the afternoon.

Even before the season ends in most ski resorts in mid-April, numerous events create a lively atmosphere: The Snowbombing Festival awaits in Mayrhofen-Hippach from April 6th to 11th, 2026. In the Zillertal Arena, skiers and snowboarders will be hitting the slopes one last time from April 10th to 12th – the final day of the 2025/26 winter season. At the Lederhosen Wedel Finale, numerous skiers and snowboarders will be speeding down the pistes in lederhosen and dirndls. And a rope team is required for the Hochfügen rope race on April 12th, which will be celebrating its 60th anniversary as the winter season draws to a close.

But winter isn't saying goodbye everywhere: With the Hintertux Glacier, the Zillertal Valley boasts Austria's longest ski season. Well after Easter, dreamy firn slopes and breathtaking panoramic views at 3,250 meters altitude entice skiers to the glacier ski area. At the foot of the Olperer mountain, the Betterpark Hintertux is also in excellent condition, and from April 18, 2026, jumps can be practiced in Austria's highest freestyle spot. Under the motto "40 Days – 40 Events," numerous event highlights await, including the live concert by OIMARA & Bande on April 18, 2026. Pure enjoyment is offered by "Gourmet Ski-Hopping" and the "Secco Gondola," where you ascend with sparkling wine.
