Méribel in Bloom: The Ultimate Alpine Summer Events Guide

As the lifts in Méribel creak to a halt and the snow gives way to edelweiss, the resort reveals a different kind of summer escape. With overtourism and rising temperatures reshaping traditional European beach breaks, alpine destinations are emerging as a compelling alternative. Sunlit trails beckon runners and mountain bikers, while those in search of a slower pace can ease into long, languid days, whether at the Zen Altitude Wellness Festival or with a glass of wine on a terrace overlooking rolling peaks.

Discover Méribel’s New Summer Openings

This summer, Méribel welcomes three new venues, each bringing its own distinct flavour to the resort. At Vins Dieux, a cellar-style wine bar and restaurant, sommelier Antoine curates a wide selection of wines, perfectly paired with homemade dishes by chef Nicolas. The name itself is a playful nod to a Jura expression of surprise, designed to leave guests exclaiming “Vins Dieux!”. Meanwhile, Dionysos – Bar & Coffee provides a relaxed setting for casual drinks, from morning coffee to evening aperitifs, while La Vache Rouge offers a more indulgent option with a distinctive menu centred on aged meats and seafood, adding a refined edge to the resort’s dining scene.

60 Years of Golf in Méribel

Méribel Golf Course celebrates its 60th anniversary this summer, offering the perfect excuse to tee off at one of the Alps’ most scenic high-altitude courses. Set at 1,700 metres, its 18 holes wind through forests and alpine pastures, with panoramic mountain views throughout. The season begins with the Méribel Golf Cup (5–8 July), while plans for a new, sustainably designed clubhouse mark the next chapter for this iconic course.

Push Your Limits at the Méribel Hybrid Games (10–12 July)

The HYROX craze has hit the mountains. The Méribel Hybrid Games unfolds across two iconic locations: Méribel-Mottaret and the Col de la Loze. Inspired by the HYROX concept, this dynamic event blends trail running, functional fitness and time trials into a high-altitude challenge unlike any other. Whether competing solo or as part of a team, participants are invited to test their endurance against a backdrop of sweeping alpine scenery.

Take on the Col de la Loze Challenge (19 July)

Méribel plays host to the famous Col de la Loze Challenge, a high-altitude cycling event. Winding its way up one of the Alps’ most iconic – and demanding – mountain passes, this is a bucket-list ride for keen cyclists. With a choice of distances, the event opens the experience to a range of abilities, from seasoned riders chasing a personal best to cycling enthusiasts looking to test themselves on legendary Tour de France terrain. Expect sweeping views, lung-burning climbs and a true sense of achievement at the summit.

Reconnect at Zen Altitude (21–23 July)

For a proper alpine reset, make sure to book Zen Altitude, a wellness festival set across the resort’s most scenic alpine locations. Blending outdoor yoga, breathwork and holistic treatments with guided hikes and nature-based experiences, the programme is designed to restore both body and mind. Expect everything from meditative walks and Pilates sessions to workshops in nutrition, essential oils and mindful movement, alongside moments of pure relaxation, whether in a mountainside sauna or with a herbal tea overlooking the peaks.

Urban Energy Meets the Alps at FISE District Méribel (28–30 July)

Summer swaps pistes for ramps and rails as the FISE District rolls into town, bringing the high-octane world of BMX to the mountains. Watch top freestyle riders defy gravity with aerial tricks and jaw-dropping demonstrations, or get involved with introductory sessions designed for all levels. Blending agility, creativity and adrenaline, the event transforms the resort into a vibrant playground, offering a fresh and unexpected take on summer in the Alps.

Step into Tradition at La Fête à Fanfoué (1–2 Augus)

A highlight of summer in Les Allues, La Fête à Fanfoué brings the valley’s traditions vividly to life over the first weekend of August. For two days, the village transforms into a celebration of alpine heritage, where locals and visitors come together to enjoy folk music, street performances and demonstrations of traditional skills. Expect the scent of regional Savoyard dishes, lively entertainment in the streets and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that captures the spirit of mountain life.

Look to the Stars at the Festival d’Astronomie (4–6 August)

When the sun sets in Méribel, the real show begins at the Festival d’Astronomie, a two-day celebration of the cosmos set beneath the clear, high-altitude skies of the Alps. Designed for all ages, the programme blends hands-on workshops and expert-led talks with immersive experiences, from constellation mapping and astrophotography sessions to a travelling planetarium that brings the solar system to life. As night falls, telescopes are set up for guided stargazing, revealing stars, planets and distant galaxies in exceptional clarity. Free to attend, it’s an inspiring and accessible way to experience the magic of the night sky in a truly spectacular setting.

Take on the Méribel Trail (7–9 August 2026)

For travellers whose idea of holiday hell is sitting on a sun lounger, the Méribel Trail returns, bringing together mountain running enthusiasts for a weekend of high-altitude challenge. With distances ranging from 10 to 50km, each route winds through technical, exposed and beautifully wild terrain, from steep climbs to sweeping ridgelines. New for 2026, La Nocturne des Crêtes (Friday 7 August) introduces a semi-nocturnal 22km race with 1,100m of elevation gain, where runners – solo or in pairs – take to the trails as dusk falls.

Take on the Trails at Enduro (22–24 August)

When the starting horn sounds in Méribel, the adrenaline kicks in at Enduro 2, the international mountain biking competition designed for teams of two. Over three days, riders take on a series of specially designed stages across the Méribel Bike Park, navigating technical descents, varied terrain and fast-paced sections. With a focus on teamwork as much as skill, the event brings together amateur and seasoned riders alike for an exhilarating test in one of the Alps’ premier biking destinations.
