Investment initiative at Hauser Kaibling brings approximately 16 percent guest growth

The consistent investment strategy at Hauser Kaibling is clearly paying off: In the past two years, the Styrian ski resort has seen an increase in visitors of around 16 percent – equivalent to approximately 85,000 additional skiers. This clearly confirms that the extensive modernizations are a key driver of growth.
Over the past two years, a total of approximately €36 million has been invested in comprehensive modernization measures at Hauser Kaibling. Two key infrastructure projects were central to these efforts: the new 8-seater chairlift "Kaiblinggrat" was built in 2024, followed in 2025 by the construction of the new 10-person gondola lift "Senderbahn Hauser Kaibling." Both lifts replaced existing 4-seater chairlifts and have significantly improved the ski area in terms of both quality and capacity. Increased comfort, modern technology, and noticeably shorter waiting times directly enhance the guest experience – and have a direct impact on demand.
“ We are very proud of this significant increase in guests of around 16 percent, as it shows that our strategic investments are more than paying off, even in a challenging economic climate ,” says Klaus Hofstätter, Managing Director of Hauser Kaibling. “ It is particularly important to us that we implemented these investments consciously and using our own resources – as a clear commitment to the long-term development of our ski area. Our aim is to offer guests a modern, comfortable, and family-friendly skiing experience – the current figures confirm that we are on the right track ,” Hofstätter adds.
Quality-assured growth
Recent guest surveys demonstrate that these investments not only increase visitor numbers but also sustainably improve quality. With an overall satisfaction rating of 1.5, the Hauser Kaibling is significantly above the Austrian average. It also achieves top marks in comfort and modernity, while its recommendation rate of 72 percent is clearly above the national average.
Furthermore, a key growth driver is the consistent development of the family offerings. This segment has grown by around 20 percent over the past three years. This is primarily due to targeted investments in experiences for young guests, such as the 24,000 square meter "Wollis Kids Park" at the valley station, the XXL Funslope, which has been expanded into one of the longest funslopes in Austria, and the new Wollis Forest Trail, which has added further appeal since 2026.
This development is stabilized by a balanced visitor demographic: Hauser Kaibling attracts both day visitors and those staying for longer periods equally. This balance strengthens the economic foundation and demonstrates that the ski resort is equally attractive to both the local population and holidaymakers.
Next modernization steps planned
The investment initiative is by no means complete. Rather, it is part of a long-term quality strategy that positions Hauser Kaibling as a modern, snow-sure winter sports area and an attractive adventure mountain for all seasons. Further measures, particularly in the areas of summer activities, snowmaking expertise, slope expansion, and infrastructure, are already in the planning stages.
