Telenor continues to invest in Norwegian snowsports

Telenor and the Norwegian Alpine Skiing Team are extending their 21-year partnership with a new agreement that will last until 2030, with Telenor continuing as the main sponsor. This continues one of the longest and most important partnerships in Norwegian sports.

Telenor and the Norwegian Ski Association Alpine Skiing have for more than two decades worked together to develop world-class athletes and to facilitate activity, recruitment and skiing enjoyment through the Telenor Carousel.

The new agreement ensures the long-term sustainability of Norwegian alpine skiing in the years leading up to and after the World Championships on home soil in Narvik in 2029.

More than just visibility

Central to the agreement is the parties' contribution to continuing the work of creating safe, inclusive and good upbringing environments for children and young people in Norwegian skiing.

The focus on the Telenor Carousel, which over 20 years has become one of the most important meeting places for children who want to try skiing, will be continued. The new agreement also includes "Bruk Hue", Telenor's initiative and program to prevent bullying and exclusion.

For Telenor, the collaboration is therefore about far more than visibility.

"Norwegian alpine skiing represents values we recognize: teamwork, long-term sustainability, development and community. For over 20 years we have been part of a fantastic partnership, and we are proud to continue as the main partner until 2030," says Birgitte Engebretsen, CEO of Telenor Norway.

"Telenor has been a crucial partner for Norwegian alpine skiing for more than 20 years. The collaboration has helped us develop world-class athletes in Team Telenor, while at the same time we have been able to invest in recruitment and activities for children and young people across the country. The fact that Telenor is now extending it to 2030 gives us both security and the opportunity to continue developing Norwegian skiing at all levels, says sports director in alpine skiing," added Claus Johan Ryste.

The Telenor Carousel is the foundation

While World Cup victories and medals often receive deserved attention in the media, the Telenor Carousel is perhaps the most important legacy from the collaboration between Telenor and Norwegian skiing.

Since its inception, over one million children have participated in events across the country. Through local activities in several disciplines, children get to experience mastery, community and the joy of skiing without focusing on results and performance. In the new agreement, the Telenor Carousel will be continued as an important focus area.

"We are particularly interested in the Telenor Carousel, which gives children all over the country the opportunity to experience real skiing joy and become part of an inclusive community.

"We have achieved a lot together since 2005, but we believe the best years are still ahead of us. With Telenor on the team, we can continue to develop both people, environments and athletes," concluded Ryste.
