Cheese party, mobile sauna and electric skiing come to Samoëns this winter

Samoëns remains one of France’s biggest kept secrets, a small authentic Haute-Savoie village, full of history with a friendly, family history but linking into the 5th largest ski area in France – the Grand Massif. For winter 2026-7 Samoëns has new events, a new 4* chalet, a new restaurant and some quirky new activities – including electric skiing!

What's New for Winter 2026-27?

• New – Cheese Party in Samoëns – 14-17 January 2027. The Cheese Party: a new gourmet festival in Samoëns. From 14 to 17 January 2027, Samoëns will launch the first edition of the Cheese Party, a festive event for cheese and street food fans. Food trucks and culinary creations based on Savoie cheeses, local producers, concerts and an après-ski atmosphere will set the pace for this new wintertime get-together.

• New – Electric Skiing in Samoëns. This new all-terrain ski concept brings the sensations of alpine skiing to snowy trails - or even snow-free ones! Inspired by the latest technological innovations, electric skis faithfully recreate the sensations of traditional skiing while freeing the experience from weather conditions.Accompanied by an instructor, participants begin with an introduction before setting off on a ride along suitable routes. • New – Nordic experience in the heart of the Alps.  By the shores of Lac aux Dames in Samoëns, a mobile sauna offers a unique wellness experience in the heart of nature. Heated by a wood-burning stove and clad in cedar wood, visitors to the sauna can release tension and soothe muscles after skiing or for those looking for a more invigorating experience, the session can be extended with an ice-cold plunge, creating an authentic hot-and-cold winter ritual under the guidance of a coach. www.chaleur-des-bois.com From 1 December to 30 April, Friday to Sunday, from 9am to 9pm. 1-hour session by the lake: €15/person. • New – Le Mazot du Paradis (4*). Just 800m from the village centre, this new intimate chalet was constructed by joining two traditional mazots into a high-end, intimate chalet for just five guests. The chalet combines the beneifts of a private retreat with the services of a charming hotel, as guests also have access to the wellness and leisure facilities at Hôtel Neige et Roc, including heated swimming pools, a spa, sauna, hammam and fitness room. • New ‘bistronomic’ restaurant in Samoëns – Savorn. A new restaurant is adding to Samoëns’ culinary scene with the opening of Savorn, a bistronomic restaurant where seasonal ingredients and homemade dishes take centre stage. The restaurant was founded by a young Parisian couple who used to spend their holidays in Samoëns, but when the opportunity arose to take over the former Le Fabio restaurant, they jumped on it and Savorn was born. • Magical Christmas in Samoëns – 19 December 2026 – 3 January 2027.  To experience a magical Christmas in In its historic village, around the Place du Gros Tilleul, the magic of Christmas comes to life in Samoëns. Sparkling decorations, a Christmas village with artisans, shows, strolls of magical characters, a living nativity scene, entertainment for young and old, decoration workshops and fireworks. Highlights include the Santa Claus parade on his sleigh and the Christmas Run - a costumed race through the illuminated streets of Samoëns, open to all ages and levels, from beginner runners to seasoned athletes (races from 750m to 10km). • Wine Tasting Festival – 8-11 January 2027.  Les Vignerons Font Du Ski’ is a unique event offering wine lovers event offering wine lovers the opportunity to discover the region’s wines third edition through tastings of fine vintages and discussions with winemakers after a day of skiing.
