Sunkid: installs 60 smart sleds and track upgrades at Klippitztörl

The summer toboggan run at Klippitztörl in the Austrian state of Carinthia has been delighting summer vacationers and day-trippers for over 20 years. The varied track with 18 curves, bridges, and underpasses guarantees maximum fun on a downhill run of almost 1.4 kilometers – at a top speed of 40 km/h.

The facility, which opened in 2004, underwent extensive modernization in spring 2026 – with the aim of preserving this popular family attraction for the long term and modernizing it. The focus was on replacing the existing vehicles with smart toboggans from the latest Sunkid 2.0 generation – for an improved riding experience, increased comfort, and maximum safety, even in changing weather conditions. In addition to these advantages, customers also benefit from the "MOCO pro" app – for simplified (digital) maintenance processes and software updates, as well as a personalized overview of the facility and live status displays for all vehicles.

The new magnetic track end brake reliably ensures the automatic braking of all sleds, thus increasing safety at the end of the downhill run. Furthermore, the new exit conveyor belt enhances passenger comfort and ensures the automatic transport of the sleds onward – without any additional staff effort.

At the same time, the transport infrastructure was also modernized: The toboggans of the Mountain Coaster are now transported to the start of the track via the existing "Hohenwart" chairlift using a newly developed chair suspension system.

In an interview with 5min.at, municipal councilor Marika Lagger-Pöllinger describes the toboggan run project at Klippitztörl as a "boost for regional economic development": "It is particularly important for our communities and regions that leisure activities are not only maintained but also modernized.
