20 years of SunnyCard – the most family-friendly season ticket celebrates its anniversary!

For two decades, the SunnyCard has stood for uncomplicated and affordable skiing fun, also for families. Therefore, there's special reason to celebrate its 20th anniversary: with the new single parent and grandparent bonus, the SunnyCard becomes even more family-friendly and consciously takes different family constellations into account. Over the years, the SunnyCard has become a true success story because it allows frequent skiers to pursue their passion flexibly and at attractive rates.

“With the SunnyCard, you can enjoy flexible access to eight attractive ski resorts throughout the winter, offering exceptional value for money,” says Rainer Rohregger, CEO of HIWU Bergbahnen.

“I’m particularly pleased that, for our 20th anniversary, we’re also giving greater consideration to family constellations that haven’t always been the focus of traditional family offers, with the single parent and grandparent bonus. Skiing should remain a shared experience – for families, single parents, grandparents, and children. That’s precisely what the SunnyCard stands for,” Rohregger continues.

NEW: Single parent & grandparent bonus

Skiing days with children and grandchildren should be as uncomplicated and affordable as possible. That's why, since March 2026, there's a special offer aimed at both single parents and grandparents. When you buy a SunnyCard for one adult, you get a SunnyCard for up to three children born in 2012 or later for half price. This offer applies to both the SunnyCard and the SunnyCard PLUS and is available online in advance and at SunnyCard ticket offices. All tickets must be purchased at the same time. Proof of eligibility includes the Upper Austrian Family Card or the Upper Austrian Grandparents' Card, as well as the children's birth certificates. Appropriate proof of age is required. This bonus cannot be combined with the SunnyCard Monday-Friday or the SunnyCard U25. The family bonus remains in effect. The regular SunnyCard family bonus also continues to apply, of course. Thus, even after 20 years, the SunnyCard offers families a particularly attractive way to enjoy the ski season together.

8 ski resorts – one SunnyCard

The SunnyCard connects eight attractive ski resorts in Austria and South Tyrol. From the mountains of Lower Austria through Upper Austria and Tyrol to Carinthia and South Tyrol, the card offers a diverse selection for families, leisurely skiers and ambitious winter sports enthusiasts.

Hochkar

is the highest ski resort in Lower Austria and is known for its exceptional snow reliability. Located just 150 kilometers from Vienna, Hochkar offers 8 modern lifts and 19 kilometers of slopes. The Freeride Arena is a particular highlight for ambitious winter sports enthusiasts and freeriders. Numerous mountain huts also invite you to relax and enjoy a cozy break after a day on the slopes.

Lackenhof am Ötscher

, located just 140 kilometers from Vienna, is a diverse ski resort perfect for the whole family. From beginners to advanced skiers, slopes of all abilities will be suitable. The wide range of activities for children makes Lackenhof a particularly popular destination for families. After a day on the slopes, rustic mountain huts and regional specialties provide a cozy end to the day.

Hinterstoder,

located in the 360°Alpenland holiday region against the impressive backdrop of the Totes Gebirge mountain range, is Upper Austria's only World Cup ski resort. The ski area extends up to an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters and offers 40 kilometers of slopes. The range includes everything from the challenging Hannes Trinkl World Cup run and sporty descents to numerous blue runs for families.

A particular highlight is the diversity of the Hinterstoder ski area – from the World Cup slope for ambitious skiers to the spacious children's area for the youngest guests. This makes Hinterstoder ideal for varied days on the slopes and carefree family moments both on and off the pistes.

Right next to Hinterstoder is the Wurzeralm, known for its relaxed skiing and magnificent mountain panorama. Around 22 kilometers of slopes offer runs for different skill levels. The funicular railway takes guests quickly and comfortably to the Wurzeralm, where families, beginners, and leisurely skiers alike will find something to enjoy. The Sunny Kids Park and rustic cabins complete the offering.

Hochficht

is nestled in a breathtaking winter landscape at the tripoint of Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. This ski resort is particularly popular with families and boasts short distances, well-designed infrastructure, and diverse slopes.

In addition to classic runs, Hochficht also offers a fun park, a fun slope, and ski routes, ensuring suitable challenges for both beginners and advanced skiers. Its location also makes the ski resort easily accessible from the greater Linz area, as well as from Bavaria and the Czech Republic.

Grossglockner/Heiligenblut:

An impressive high-alpine setting awaits guests in Grossglockner/Heiligenblut. The ski area offers 55 kilometers of generously laid-out slopes for various skill levels, as well as an extensive freeride area and marked ski routes.

The particular highlight is, of course, the view of Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner, and the surrounding three-thousand-meter peaks. Thanks to the high altitude and modern snowmaking facilities, skiing is possible well into spring.

HochKössen

is a ski resort located in Tyrol, in the heart of the Kaiserwinkl region. The so-called "Action Hill" offers perfectly groomed slopes for all skill levels, while the Sunny Kids Park allows the youngest winter sports enthusiasts to experience skiing for the first time.

Add to that rustic mountain huts, excellent restaurants, and the unparalleled panorama of the Kaiser Mountains. Thanks to its convenient location, HochKössen is also particularly easy to reach from Bavaria.

Alpin Arena Schnals – South Tyrol

The Alpin Arena Schnals in South Tyrol brings international flair to the SunnyCard with its high-alpine skiing experience. The ski area ranges from around 2,000 to over 3,200 meters above sea level, offering excellent conditions for long ski seasons.

Wide slopes, a high-alpine panorama, and the impressive mountain scenery of the Ötztal Alps make the Alpin Arena Schnals a truly special experience. From the Iceman Ötzi Peak viewing platform, a spectacular view of numerous three-thousand-meter peaks unfolds – including the Similaun, near where Ötzi the Iceman was found. South Tyrolean specialties in the mountain huts provide the perfect culinary end to a day on the slopes.
