Rab welcomes Simon Lorenzi to their global athlete team
28/October/2026
British outdoor brand Rab(owned by Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd.) are proud to welcome Belgian climber Simon Lorenzi to their global athlete team.
Known for his determination, meticulous approach and appetite for difficult projects, Simon has established himself among the very best in modern bouldering. His tick list includes five 9A boulders (Soudain Seul, Alphane, Burden of Dreams, Return of the Sleepwalker and, most recently, Shaolin), placing him among the climbers with the most ascents at the grade.
But for Simon, the focus has never simply been on collecting grades. It is the process of unlocking a seemingly impossible sequence, finding tiny improvements session after session, and discovering where his own limits might lie that keeps pulling him towards the next project.
And there are plenty on the horizon. Among his ambitions is Megatron (9A) in the USA, established by Shawn Raboutou. He is also expanding his focus beyond bouldering. In Flatanger, Norway, Simon has been working on King Kang (9b+), first climbed by Jules Marchaland in September 2026. For Rab, that curiosity and commitment to progression make Simon a natural addition to their team of climbers and mountain athletes.
Patrick Baars, Rab’s Marketing Manager for Western EU, says: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Simon to the Rab team. His achievements speak for themselves, but what really excites us is what comes next. Simon is constantly looking for the next challenge and pushing his own limits. That mentality feels very natural for Rab, and we’re looking forward to supporting him on his journey.”
Simon Lorenzi adds: “I’m glad to start working with a brand that have such a technicity and always work to make the best products possible. Pushing the limits of what’s possible and giving our best are two commons traits that we share. It feels great to start a collaboration with a brand that really knows what’s performance is about and I’m psyched to see what’s future will bring to us.”
