Les 2 Alpes launches its winter season November 28, 2026
30/October/2026
In Les Deux Alpes, the rhythm of the mountains takes on a whole new dimension. Boosted by the exceptional altitude of its ski area (up to 3,600 m) and the power of the new Jandri cable car, the resort kicks off its winter season from November 28th to May 2nd. A unique dynamic takes hold: 9 months of year-round enjoyment, including 7 months of non-stop skiing from the end of November to the beginning of July.
A new rhythm: 9 months out of 12
Official opening of winter: from Saturday, November 28, 2026 to Sunday, May 2, 2027.

Lifestyle and infrastructure

Les 2 Alpes (Les Deux Alpes) is a world-renowned, high-altitude ski resort located in the Isère department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France. Situated approximately 64 to 71 kilometres southeast of Grenoble within the Écrins massif, it stands as one of the premier snow sports and alpine destinations in Europe.
Ski Area & Terrain
The resort is famous for its unique "upside-down" mountain profile, where the gentler, wider beginner slopes are located high up on the glacier, while the lower trails leading back to the resort village are steeper and more challenging.
Elevation: Bases sit between 1,300m and 1,650m, climbing up to a staggering maximum altitude of 3,600m at the summit glacier.
Slopes: It features 220 kilometres of marked pistes distributed across nearly 100 trails, catering heavily to intermediates while offering expansive expert areas.
Glacier Skiing: Home to one of Europe's largest skiable glaciers, ensuring highly reliable, natural snow cover throughout the winter season and historically allowing for summer ski operations.
Modern Lift Infrastructure: The ski area is anchored by state-of-the-art lift systems, highlighted by the high-capacity, €148 million Jandri 3S cable car system.
Four-Season Destination
Though internationally praised for its winter season (which typically runs from late November through early May), Les 2 Alpes operates successfully as a vibrant year-round mountain playground.
Winter Activities: Beyond traditional alpine skiing and snowboarding, visitors can experience a massive world-class snowpark, night skiing, ski touring, and snowshoeing.
Summer & Autumn Sports: When the snow melts, the area transforms into a legendary downhill mountain biking venue featuring the 2 Alpes Bike Park and the famous "Mountain of Hell" race, alongside paragliding, trail running, hiking, and outdoor swimming.
The Resort Villages
The commune itself was formed by merging the historic high-pasture alpine villages of Mont-de-Lans and Vénosc. The main resort hub at 1,650 metres is incredibly lively, packed with ski-in/ski-out lodgings, supermarkets, vibrant après-ski venues, and locally acclaimed gastronomy options.
