Les Gets celebrates its 90th birthday with reused lift and new snowpark
01/October/2026
Les Gets marks the 90th anniversary of its first ski lift this winter, celebrating its evolution from a farming village into a ski resort. Special anniversary editions of the Red Ski Show will take place on 8, 15 and 22 February and 1 March 2027, featuring freestyle displays, piste patrol presentations and snow-grooming demonstrations.
Chairlift changes on Mont Chéry - circular economy
The Grains d’Or chairlift is being reused for the Pointe chairlift project on Mont Chéry, with the new layout replacing three older installations. On the Chavannes side, the eight-seater Rosta chairlift, upgraded last year, now handles the capacity previously provided by Grains d’Or.
New beginner snowpark
A new snowpark beneath the La Croix chairlift will replace the mini boardercross course. Designed for beginners, it will feature obstacles suited to riders developing their freestyle skills.
A week for first-time skiers
The 1er Ski Festival takes place from 20–27 March 2027, offering complete beginners morning ski lessons, afternoon activities and communal evening meals. Stays start from €699. lesgets.com/en/1st-ski-festival
Les Gets Comedy
Les Gets Comédie returns from 11–17 March 2027, combining skiing with performances by comedians including Paul Taylor, Elie Semoun, Anne Roumanoff and Paul de Saint-Sernin. Tickets start from €23.
Winter running after dark
The Les Gets Winter Trail by Rossignol takes place on 16 January 2027, with routes ranging from 800 metres to 20 kilometres. The event starts at night and takes runners through the snow-covered ski area.
Solo ski holidays
The Ski Gathering offers holidays for adults travelling alone, combining skiing with opportunities to meet other people. Trips cater for all skiing levels, with week-long stays starting from €600.
Winter activities beyond skiing
Visitors can explore snowy trails on guided electric fat-bike outings, join dog-sledding experiences or ride the four-season mountain luge, which reaches speeds of up to 40 km/h. Alta Lumina adds an evening option: a one-kilometre forest trail brought to life through light, sound and storytelling.
Local heritage, food and crafts
Les Gets offers stories beyond the slopes, from its Museum of Mechanical Music, housing more than 900 instruments, to the family-run Perrières cheese dairy, established in 1906. Local potters, farmers and historians provide further opportunities to explore the village’s year-round community and Alpine traditions.
New cultural space
The former presbytery reopens this autumn as a refurbished, accessible media library covering 750 square metres across four floors. Facilities include reading areas, a children’s floor with a games library and a digital cultural room, with an immersive village-history exhibition space planned.
Sustainability and train travel
Les Gets continues its environmental initiatives through reusable wooden lift passes and measures to protect black grouse, including marked winter refuge areas and visibility markers on chairlift cables. Visitors arriving by train can access discounts through the AlpinExpress scheme, while a new Montagne Verte second-hand shop opens in the old village this winter.
Christmas in Les Gets
The resort’s Christmas programme runs from 20–24 December 2026, with a new show in the village centre. Christmas Eve celebrations include a street parade, torchlit procession and fireworks.
Winter opening dates
Les Gets plans a partial opening on 12 December 2026, subject to snow conditions, followed by full opening on 19 December. The season is scheduled to run until 11 April 2027.
