Lenzerheide is professionalizing event organization for the future.

Lenzerheide is setting the course for the future of its major sporting events. With the founding of the Lenzerheide Event Organisation, or LEO for short, a shared platform is being created for the planning and execution of large-scale sporting events. The new organization establishes the conditions for the long-term, professional, and sustainable development of international sporting events and is an important component in the implementation of the Destination 2030 plan.
Major sporting events have shaped Lenzerheide for many years and have positioned the destination both nationally and internationally. They generate added value for the region, boost tourism, and ensure international visibility. Accordingly, they are also anchored as a strategic area of action in the Destination Plan 2030.
With the events planned up to and including 2030, Lenzerheide faces an ambitious event program. To implement this program sustainably and successfully across all sports, resources will be pooled under the umbrella of LEO. "Lenzerheide knows how to host major events. With LEO, we are pooling our resources and creating a sustainable organization," says President Luana Bergamin.
For years, Lenzerheide has successfully hosted world-class events in various disciplines. With LEO, knowledge, volunteers, infrastructure, and partnerships can be shared and further developed even more effectively. At the same time, a central point of contact is being created for national and international associations.
Vice President and Tourism Director Marc Schlüssel says: "Major events are of great importance to Lenzerheide. With the Destination Plan, we are pursuing a long-term strategy. LEO provides us with the structure to implement the ambitious event program of the coming years jointly and professionally."
No additional organizational structure was deliberately created for the new organization. The Nordic Events association will be dissolved and integrated into the existing Bike World Cup Lenzerheide association, which will continue under the name LEO.
The merger was carried out in close consultation with the municipalities. LEO's members include Lenzerheide Marketing und Support AG, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG, the Lenzerheide Hotel Association, and other members. The board consists of Luana Bergamin (President), Marc Schlüssel (Vice President), Michael Hartweg, Reto Aeschbacher, Xenia Picco, Reto Laim, and Christoph Müller.
Michael Hartweg says: “Lenzerheide has established itself as a venue for international sporting events. To ensure this continues in the future, strong and sustainable structures are needed. I am happy to help further develop the successful major event strategy for the future.”
The Lenzerheide Ski World Cup Association will continue its work independently for the time being. Cooperation with LEO will be coordinated with a view to future events and developments. With the new organization, joint preparations for upcoming major events and the further development of Lenzerheide as an event location will now begin.
