LEITNER Deepens Alpine Commitment with New Aosta Valley Technology Hub

In a move that underlines the growing importance of integrated mountain infrastructure, LEITNER and the wider HTI Group have opened a new Operations & Technology Hub in Pollein, on the outskirts of Aosta, strengthening their long-standing presence in one of Europe's premier mountain regions. The investment exceeds €3 million and is designed to bring ropeway, snowmaking, snow grooming and renewable energy expertise closer to resort operators across the Aosta Valley.

The new facility occupies an 800 m² building within a 3,500 m² site and is strategically positioned less than five kilometres from the nearest motorway junction, allowing rapid deployment of service, maintenance and technical support teams throughout the region.

A Strategic Base in the Heart of the Alps

The Aosta Valley is one of Italy's most significant mountain tourism regions, home to internationally recognised destinations including Cervinia, Pila, Courmayeur, La Thuile and Monterosa Ski. By establishing a dedicated hub in Pollein, LEITNER is positioning itself closer to customers while enhancing operational efficiency in a region where reliable mountain transport and winter technology infrastructure are critical.

The centre brings together the expertise of four HTI Group companies:

  • LEITNER – ropeway technologies and lift systems

  • PRINOTH – snow groomers and tracked vehicles

  • DEMACLENKO – snowmaking systems

  • TROYER – hydroelectric energy solutions

The co-location of these businesses creates a single point of support for mountain operators, reflecting a broader industry trend towards integrated alpine infrastructure solutions.

More Than a Service Centre

While the immediate purpose of the hub is to improve maintenance, logistics and technical response times, HTI executives are positioning the facility as a regional centre of technological excellence.

HTI President Anton Seeber said the aim is to make the group's full technological know-how available to communities and operators in the Aosta Valley with greater efficiency, ranging from ropeway engineering and snowmaking to clean-energy technologies. He also described the centre as an opportunity to further strengthen the region's position as a leading alpine innovation hub.

The project also has a significant employment dimension. LEITNER reports that the new site will create additional highly skilled jobs in workshop, warehouse and administrative functions, with staffing expected to grow as operations expand. Regional reports indicate the workforce is expected to rise substantially in the coming months.

Reinforcing a Long-Term Presence

The investment is not a new market entry but rather an expansion of an established relationship with the region. HTI companies have been active in the Aosta Valley for decades through ropeway installations, snow grooming operations and winter technology support. According to regional reporting, LEITNER's history in the area stretches back many years, reflecting the valley's importance within the Alpine transport sector.

Recent and ongoing ropeway developments in the region, including major lift modernisation projects and network upgrades, continue to drive demand for advanced technical support and rapid service capability. The new Pollein hub is intended to provide that local presence while reducing response times for operators.

A Signal for the Alpine Industry

Beyond its local importance, the opening highlights a wider shift occurring across Europe's mountain regions. As ski areas invest in modern lifts, sophisticated snowmaking systems and renewable energy infrastructure, suppliers are increasingly moving towards integrated support models rather than standalone product delivery.

By combining ropeways, snow management, piste maintenance and clean-energy expertise under one roof, LEITNER and HTI are betting that the future of mountain operations will rely on interconnected technologies supported by strong regional service networks. The new Pollein hub represents a tangible example of that strategy, giving one of the Alps' most important tourism regions a dedicated centre for innovation, service and technical development.
