La Sportiva Opens New Brand Store in Arco, the Heart of European Climbing
28/October/2026
La Sportiva has opened a new brand store in Arco, Italy, strengthening its presence in one of the world’s most influential climbing destinations and extending a retail strategy built around community, events and technical expertise.
Located at Via della Cinta 7, the new store is La Sportiva’s 14th globally. Its opening coincided with Rock Master, Arco’s internationally renowned climbing event, bringing athletes, local climbers and outdoor enthusiasts together at a location chosen for its close connection to the sport.
The choice of Arco is more than a property decision. Set at the northern end of Lake Garda, the town has been a centre of climbing culture for decades. Rock Master was first held in 1987 and has helped establish Arco as a meeting point for elite competitors, recreational climbers and the wider outdoor industry. The event’s modern programme includes Lead Duel and KO Boulder competitions, alongside an expo, athlete appearances and community activities.
La Sportiva’s new space is intended to function as more than a conventional shop. The company describes it as a meeting point for the outdoor community, where customers can discover equipment, connect with athletes, exchange ideas and take part in events and in-store activities.
That approach reflects a wider shift in outdoor retail. Technical brands are increasingly using their own stores to create direct relationships with customers, rather than treating retail simply as a route to sell products. In locations such as Arco, where the surrounding landscape is itself a major part of the brand experience, stores can act as hubs for clinics, product testing, athlete gatherings and local events.
The Arco store carries La Sportiva’s full range of categories, including climbing, Mountain Running, hiking and mountaineering. Its design is intended to reflect the company’s alpine roots and manufacturing heritage, using materials and visual references connected to La Sportiva’s production base in the Dolomites.
The location also gives La Sportiva a physical presence in a market where product knowledge and fit are particularly important. Climbing shoes, approach footwear and technical mountain equipment are products that customers often want to examine, compare and discuss before buying. A specialist store can provide advice and access to equipment in a way that online retail cannot fully reproduce.
La Sportiva’s retail expansion has gathered pace across both Europe and North America. The company’s official store network includes locations in Italy, Spain, Greece and the United States, with the Arco opening taking the global total to 14. Its Italian estate includes stores in mountain destinations such as Cortina d’Ampezzo, Pozza di Fassa, Cavalese, Courmayeur and Finale Ligure.
In North America, the brand opened its first premium store in Boulder, Colorado, in January 2024, followed by a Salt Lake City location in 2026. The Salt Lake City store was designed as a community hub, with events, workshops and group outings planned alongside the sale of La Sportiva’s footwear, apparel and ski-touring equipment. It also introduced the company’s first ReSoul Lab in North America, offering resoling services for climbing footwear and extending product life.
The community-led model is closely connected to La Sportiva’s heritage. Founded in 1928, the company remains based in Ziano di Fiemme, a small town in the Italian Dolomites. La Sportiva says its manufacturing operation employs around 250 people and continues to produce footwear in its own factory, an unusual arrangement in a global industry dominated by outsourced production.
That heritage is central to the brand’s positioning. La Sportiva’s products are developed for climbing, mountaineering, trail running, hiking and ski touring, while its athletes and ambassadors provide a high-performance testing ground. Stores such as the new Arco location allow the company to bring that technical identity into direct contact with the communities that use its equipment.
The opening also comes as climbing continues to develop as both a participation sport and a spectator discipline. Arco’s Rock Master event has helped popularise competition formats that are fast and accessible to audiences, while the sport’s Olympic status has broadened its international profile. In this context, a permanent La Sportiva presence in the town offers the brand a platform at the intersection of elite competition, grassroots participation and outdoor tourism.
For La Sportiva, the Arco store is therefore both a retail investment and a declaration of intent. By placing its products in the centre of one of Europe’s best-known climbing communities, the company is seeking to strengthen the link between its manufacturing heritage, its athletes and the people who live and climb in the mountains every day.
The result is a store designed not simply to sell mountain equipment, but to become part of the climbing landscape itself—a place where product, performance and community meet.
