Flumserberg Mountain Railways Posts Second-Best Financial Year, Outlines Major Infrastructure Upgrades
16/October/2026
Flumserberg Mountain Railways AG (BBF) has successfully concluded its 2025/26 financial year, securing the second-best financial result in the company's history despite challenging weather conditions during the first half of the winter season and an ongoing difficult cost environment. The strong performance was formally announced to 204 shareholders at the company's Annual General Meeting, held recently on Prodalp, where Chairman of the Board Guido Mätzler presented the positive figures while outlining the resort's future trajectory.
The destination recorded a total of 792,537 first-time visitors over the past financial year, heavily driven by the winter season, which accounted for 552,531 of those visits. This robust foot traffic translated into CHF 37.7 million in total operating income generated across BBF's diversified business segments, which include its core cable car operations, on-mountain restaurants, and sporting goods stores. The company achieved an operating cash flow (EBITDA) of CHF 7.2 million and a net profit of CHF 1.3 million, matching the financial stability of the previous year.
BBF attributes its sustained popularity as a premier holiday and excursion destination to its broad array of year-round activities, easy accessibility, and excellent integration with public transport networks. To maintain this competitive edge, the board has committed to a series of significant capital investments in the coming years. Key infrastructure projects on the horizon include the optimization of the resort's snowmaking systems and the complete replacement of the Prodalp-Express gondola lift. Additionally, leadership plans to accelerate targeted destination development on the Tannenboden to further enhance the guest experience.
The positive momentum from the winter has carried directly into the warmer months, with the current summer season tracking toward record-breaking visitor numbers. Operations for this highly successful summer period are scheduled to continue through October 18, 2026, setting the stage for the company as it prepares to roll out its next phase of mountain upgrades.
