Austria's first ski opening takes place in Amsterdam

Austria's first ski opening is taking place in the Netherlands. On November 21 and 22, the SnowWorld Amsterdam ski hall will be transformed into an Austrian winter wonderland.

  • Filzmoos brings Austrian ski lodge flair to Holland on November 21st and 22nd - a delegation of around 20 people travels to the winter opening at SnowWorld Amsterdam

  • The Salzburg ski and winter sports region has been an exclusive premium partner of SnowWorld Amsterdam for five years

  • Winter start in Filzmoos: The ski slopes and cross-country ski trails open on December 5th

A delegation of around 20 people will travel to Amsterdam for the winter opening to inspire visitors with spectacular ski shows, traditional folk music, regional specialties, and genuine Austrian hospitality, all in the spirit of a winter holiday in the Alps.

Ski shows, a farmers' market, and Austrian chalet atmosphere:

The two-day winter opening offers visitors a diverse program centered around Austrian skiing and winter sports. The Filzmoos ski demonstration team, comprised entirely of state-certified ski instructors, will provide sporting highlights, showcasing their skills with synchronized formation runs. A farmers' market featuring regional products, tastings of alpine delicacies, and traditional folk music from Filzmoos will bring authentic Salzburg ski chalet atmosphere to the heart of Amsterdam. There are numerous activities for children and families, as well as competitions with attractive prizes for Filzmoos fans.

Filzmoos is an exclusive partner of SnowWorld Amsterdam

. The Salzburg winter sports region of Filzmoos has been an exclusive premium partner of SnowWorld Amsterdam for five years. The indoor ski slope belongs to the SnowWorld Group, Europe's largest indoor ski slope operator. "The partnership with SnowWorld Amsterdam is an ideal opportunity for us to present Filzmoos directly to a particularly enthusiastic winter sports target group. We're essentially reaching Dutch skiers at home and inspiring them to take a holiday in our mountains," explains Peter Donabauer, head of tourism for Filzmoos. The Netherlands is one of Filzmoos' most important source markets. The cooperation with SnowWorld has significantly increased overnight stays by Dutch skiers.

The winter season in Filzmoos begins on December 5th.

While the first ski turns are already being made in Amsterdam in November, amidst the Austrian atmosphere, preparations for the winter season are underway in Filzmoos. The official start of skiing and cross-country skiing is planned for December 5, 2026. The new reservoir at Rossbrand ensures additional snow reliability, supporting artificial snowmaking and thus creating an important foundation for a dependable start to the season. The Filzmoos winter sports region, nestled at the foot of the Bischofsmütze and Dachstein mountains, is particularly popular with families, recreational skiers, and cross-country skiers. With its diverse ski slopes, extensive network of cross-country trails, and cozy ski huts, the resort offers ideal conditions for a winter holiday in SalzburgerLand.
