"WE CAN'T NOT": PADDY GRAHAM'S SKI FILM ABOUT MAKING A SKI FILM IS OUT NOW

Narrated by Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones star Sean Bean and featuring Markus Eder (ITA), Tom Ritsch (AUT), Kye Petersen (CAN) and Finn Bilous (NZL), the new Legs of Steel and Red Bull Media House production sees British skier and filmmaker Paddy Graham take on the question nobody has ever answered properly: why do we do this?

Innsbruck, Austria, November 2, 2026 - Emmy Award-winning production company Legs of Steel and Red Bull Media House have released "We Can't Not", Paddy Graham's behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to make a ski film. The 60-minute feature is now free to watch on Red Bull Snow YouTube and Red Bull TV.

Freeskier Paddy Graham has spent his whole life making ski films but has never been able to explain why. This film is his attempt, made for the people who matter most to him: his family. A ski film about making a ski film, it follows two years of production and ski action, with Graham taking some of the world's best skiers to freeride's proving ground - Alaska. Alongside the action filmed on location, the team used the Hyperbowl, a German large-scale LED virtual studio, to bring the Alaskan mountains into scenes with Graham's family. Mixing these studio sequences with real mountain footage and behind-the-scenes material, the film offers a closer look at how it was made and at why anyone would put themselves through it. "Throughout my entire career, I have tried to explain to friends, family and strangers the magic of working as a professional freeskier," said Graham. "Now we're bringing you along with us too. This project is as close as you can get to joining us over two years of making our next ski movie." To help him on his quest, Graham handpicked four elite skiers: Markus Eder, Kye Petersen, Finn Bilous and Austria's Tom Ritsch - a dream team that shares the stoke and the nerves throughout.

The film is narrated by Sheffield-born actor Sean Bean, whose dry wit made him a natural fit as Graham's hometown hero. "I'm not really an expert when it comes to skiing," said Bean in the voiceover, "but I will do my best."

"We Can't Not" is produced by Tobi Reindl and Paddy Graham and written and directed by Adam Gendle, whose previous work includes the mockumentary #skigoodmoneywillcome and Here Hold My Kid. Director of Photography is Johno Verity; Director of Action in Alaska is Christoph Thoresen, a Sports Emmy winner for Eder's The Ultimate Run. The film blends unscripted human moments, a stylised story world built in the LED "Hyperbowl" virtual studio, and ski action shot in Alaska, USA; Whistler, Canada; Ahrntal, Italy; Helsinki, Finland; Wānaka, New Zealand; Innsbruck, Austria; Hokkaido, Japan; Sheffield, UK; and Region Dents du Midi, Switzerland. The original soundtrack is by Austrian indie rock duo Cari Cari.
