The Association of South Tyrolean Cable Car Operators draws a positive summer conclusion
07/November/2026
Summer operations are becoming increasingly important for the operators of ski lifts in South Tyrol: this is confirmed by the feedback the Association of Cable Car Operators is currently receiving from its members. The "Cable Car Summer" promotion for holders of the South Tyrol Pass, in which around 70 lifts throughout the region are participating, has once again been very well received. The attractive discounts are appreciated and utilized by the local population.
“This positive development is primarily due to the attractive offers from our members, but also to the increasing popularity of the mountain and of course to the weather, which gave us mild temperatures and stable conditions well into autumn,” said Helmut Sartori, President of the Association of Cable Car Operators.
Members' voices:
3 Zinnen AG is currently reporting a 5.5 percent increase in revenue. "The increasing internationalization of our guests is causing a shift in tourism from the peak season to the shoulder seasons. We have responded to this, and our summer season now begins in mid-May and runs until November 9th. Our Family Parks are particularly popular and have a strong appeal for visitors. Cleanliness, quality, and innovation are paying off," explains 3 Zinnen Managing Director Mark Winkler.
Carezza also recorded consistently high visitor numbers. "The summer season went very well. Looking ahead, we plan to further expand our summer offerings beyond traditional hiking. In particular, we want to expand our biking options and also create a new, artistically designed themed trail. 'Lift hiking' is becoming increasingly popular in our area. With our six summer lifts, the high plateau below the Rosengarten can be experienced and explored in a variety of ways, largely car-free and without major restrictions," said Carezza Managing Director Florian Eisath.
Summer is becoming increasingly popular and therefore more important in Pfelders. "You can see that the seasons are starting earlier and earlier, and even in September the weather is still perfect for hiking. Hikers are our main target group and therefore very sensitive to the weather. But with a sunny and hot summer like 2026, tourists and locals alike flock to the mountains, and the trend is clearly continuing upwards. The offers, such as the cable car summer pass and the South Tyrol Ski Arena annual pass, also make it easier for locals to access the mountain lifts in summer," says Hannes Kneissl, Managing Director of the Pfelders cable cars.
"In summary, while the majority of our members still generate the majority of their revenue in winter, summer is becoming increasingly important; in a few areas, the ratio is already balanced. We are on the right track to achieving year-round operation thanks to innovation and diversification," Sartori concluded.
