Doppelmayr celebrates official groundbreaking for the expansion at the Hohe Brücke site
06/November/2026
The official groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion at the Hohe Brücke site is a special milestone for Doppelmayr. It marks the start of the company's largest single investment. New production halls and a modern high-bay warehouse will be built at the Hohe Brücke site in Wolfurt in the coming years and the foundation stone was ceremonially laid.
The expansion of the Doppelmayr plant in the Hohe Brücke area comprises approximately 50,000 square meters of additional production space and a highly automated high-bay warehouse from LTW Intralogistics. This will create more capacity for the production of cable car components for international projects and provide space for a total of around 850 jobs. Jobs currently spread across various locations in the region will be consolidated in the Hohe Brücke area. By bundling production, logistics, and warehousing, processes can be made more efficient, and the conditions for further growth can be created.
“With this project, we are investing in high-quality buildings, machinery, and infrastructure, and above all, in the future of our company and our employees. It has been a long road, and we are delighted to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony today as our commitment to the Wolfurt location and to Vorarlberg. This site expansion will create the conditions for us to remain successful and competitive in the future,” emphasized Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Michael Doppelmayr.
For the state of Vorarlberg, the investment sends a strong signal for the business location.
“ Doppelmayr is not only a major industrial company for our state, but also enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide. The decision to invest this magnitude in Wolfurt strengthens the competitiveness of Vorarlberg as a business location and creates long-term prospects for employment, added value, and innovation. Such investments are an important sign of confidence in our region ,” says Marco Tittler, State Councillor for Economic Affairs.
The municipality of Wolfurt also expressly welcomes the start of construction. " Doppelmayr and Wolfurt share a long history. We are delighted that the company has developed so successfully in our community for over 130 years. The factory expansion will create a modern industrial project in the Hohe Brücke area, offering new opportunities for the local development of the municipality and for our citizens ," explains Angelika Moosbrugger, Mayor of Wolfurt.
In implementing the project, Doppelmayr, together with the general contractor Goldbeck Rhomberg, relies on regional partners and close cooperation among all project participants.
“ Today’s groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of a project that sets new standards for our site in terms of its scale and technical complexity. The expansion combines modern production areas, highly automated logistics processes, and a high-performance high-bay warehouse into a future-oriented overall system. Over the past few years, numerous experts have worked intensively on the planning to optimally integrate the requirements of production, material flow, infrastructure, and sustainability. The fact that we can now begin the implementation phase makes me proud and is a special milestone for the entire project team ,” explains Markus Wilpernig, Project Manager for the expansion project at Doppelmayr Immobilien.
The groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of the next phase of a project that will shape the development of the company and the Wolfurt site for decades to come. The new infrastructure will create the conditions necessary to meet global demand for cable car systems and secure Doppelmayr's market leadership for the long term.
