Successful winter in the Saas Valley – positive outlook for summer 2026

The Saas Valley looks back on an extremely successful winter season and is starting the 2026 summer season with great confidence. New record highs were achieved in overnight stays as well as in the frequency of use of the mountain railways and public transport.

A harsh winter with growth and record numbers.

The 2025/26 winter season in the Saas Valley concluded with an increase of approximately 5 percent in overnight stays compared to the already very successful previous winter. The mountain railways also reported positive results: Saastal Bergbahnen AG recorded over 600,000 first-time visitors, the best result in the last 25 years. Bergbahnen Hohsaas AG also expressed satisfaction , reporting a successful winter season.

Another record was achieved in public transport: PostBus route 511 (Brig–Visp–Saas-Fee) carried a total of 1.72 million passengers last year, representing an increase of 5 percent compared to the previous year. This makes it the most successful route for leisure and tourism travel in Switzerland.

Summer is just around the corner – new offers and further developments.

In just under a month, the mountain lifts will resume operation for the May holidays, thus kicking off the summer season. Guests can look forward to numerous new and improved offerings again this year: The adventure forest is being completely redesigned and will reopen in July 2026.

Development continues on the Mittelallalin – the VirtuAllalin VR experience is being expanded with a new, walkable section. At the same time, the biking offerings in the Saas Valley are being strategically expanded: existing trails on the Hannig and in the Hohsaas-Kreuzboden area are being further developed and new features introduced.

Attractive overall offer for the summer

With its new and enhanced offerings, the Saas Valley strengthens its profile as a versatile year-round destination. In summer and autumn, guests can expect a unique combination of high alpine scenery with 18 four-thousand-meter peaks, attractive biking opportunities, and family-friendly experiences.

The SaastalCard offers a special added value: from the first overnight stay, the mountain railways (excluding the Metro Alpin) and the postal bus in the Saas Valley are included. This allows for particularly easy and flexible exploration of the entire destination.
