Grouse mountain's Gravity Coaster NOW OPEN!
26/May/2026
the opening ceremony welcomed departing President Michael Cameron and new President Nick Dean to celebrate the start of an exciting new chapter at Grouse Mountain and send the very first riders down the track. One of Grouse Mountain‘s newest summer attractions is a gravity-powered coaster that sends riders careening down the mountainside.
Located to the skiers left of The Cut, adventurers will be taken on an exhilarating ride of twists and turns, weaving through a series of trees and exciting features before being greeted by an awe-inspiring view of Vancouver. The track is a permanent structure, and a closed circuit which will return guests to the mountaintop without having to exit the cart.
The Mountain Coaster was designed and manufactured by Aquatic Development Group, and was built with support from North Construction. A full environmental study was completed by BA Blackwell including a geotechnical study for slope stability.
All carts have been fitted with anti-collision technology and our safety features are above what any other Coaster in BC is currently offering.
One of Grouse Mountain‘s newest summer attractions is a gravity-powered coaster that sends riders careening down the mountainside.
Cypress Mountain has already had its own Eagle Coaster for a couple of years now. One day Grouse will have something similar of its own. As part of its summer expansion, Grouse also developed a mountain bike terrain park too.
Grouse Mountain is one of the premier attractions on the North Shore. There is plenty to do at the mountain throughout the year, and something new on the horizon is the Grouse Mountain Coaster.
The coaster is very similar to the Cypress Eagle Coaster over on neighbouring Cypress Mountain. Grouse’s planned coaster is a 1.4 km long track where people ride in small carts down the mountain. There’s no engine or other power involved. The carts roll down the track entirely through the power of gravity!
Admission costs $29 for a single ride for one person, or $41 for two passengers on the same trip. If you want to ride it twice in the same day, a two-ride ticket costs $42 for one person or $57 for two people. (For comparison, the Cypress Eagle Coaster costs about $35 for one ride or $53 for two rides.)
Note: The above prices don’t include admission to the resort (which costs about an extra $89 for adults). Also, for rides with two passengers, the combined weight of both people can’t exceed $140 kg or 310 pounds).
To save money, if you hike up via the Grouse Grind (which is a grueling climb), and you want to take the gondola back down, you can get a Download Ticket Bundle for $39, which includes just one ride on the coaster. Alternatively, you can get a Sunset Ticket Bundle for $49 per person which includes a single ride, but also lift ticket both up and down the hill from the parking lot base, but only for admission after 6:00 pm.
The Grouse Mountain Coaster drops over 90 metres in elevation over the course of its nearly 1.5 km track. The carts are built for just one or two people. Adults can ride solo or with a child as a passenger. Two adults can’t ride in the same cart.
Riders have the ability to control exactly how fast they go by using a braking system on the cart. Don’t brake at all and the cart can fly down the track at up to 45 km an hour! Use the brake the whole time and the cart can go as slow as a crawl. (Don’t do that though, you don’t want to slow up the line of people waiting for their turn!)
The cart is pulled back up to the starting position using an automated system once it reaches the bottom. Riders don’t have to do anything once they get to that point. Just enjoy the steady climb up past some great mountain views!
