Arizona Snowbowl Begins Daily Summer Operations on May 15, Invests $1M+ Ahead of Winter
13/May/2026
Arizona Snowbowl begins daily summer operations on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with scenic gondola rides, sunset experiences and a summer lineup that includes trail races, archery events and gondola dinners.
This summer, Snowbowl is investing more than $1 million in capital improvements ahead of the 2026–27 winter season, including a new 150-foot conveyor, snowmaking upgrades, RFID ticket technology and new gladed terrain. Snowbowl’s 2026–27 Power Pass is on sale now, with payment plan prices increasing May 14.
Key projects include:
Snowmaking upgrades – Four new tower guns near Big Spruce and Boo Boo to improve early-season terrain and snow reliability.
New 150-foot conveyor – Snowbowl’s longest beginner conveyor will be installed alongside the existing Big Spruce and Little Spruce conveyors, increasing uphill capacity for first-time skiers and riders.
RFID technology – All tickets and passes will move to RFID, with new self-serve pickup boxes designed to create a faster arrival experience.
New gladed terrain – Forest health work will remove dead and downed trees, reduce fire fuels and improve tree skiing within the ski area boundary. The project includes additional glading below Spur Catwalk and Midway Catwalk, near the Upper and Lower Volcano trails, and near the Sunset Chairlift.
While winter preparations are underway, daily summer operations begin May 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunset gondola rides return Fridays and Saturdays beginning May 22, with guests able to unload at the summit during golden hour. The sunset experience can be paired with dinner at Agassiz Lodge.
Base-area activities include disc golf, summer tubing, a climbing wall, rooftop mini golf and virtual reality skiing. Summer events include beer festivals, gondola dinners, trail races, archery events and fundraising climbs.
Situated in the majestic San Francisco Peaks at 9,500 feet and just 14 miles north of Flagstaff, Snowbowl is Arizona’s ideal summertime destination to escape the heat with cool mountain air and stunning views of Sedona’s red rocks, the cinder cone volcanic field and Grand Canyon’s rim. In winter, Snowbowl is home to Arizona’s longest ski season, with state-of-the-art snowmaking and 260 inches of annual snowfall. In addition to the best beginner terrain in the Southwest, winter enthusiasts will enjoy Snowbowl’s naturally divided terrain, variety of trails, three terrain parks, premier tree skiing, and expert hike-to terrain.
