Thale cable cars adventure world increases number of cabins

It is 728 meters long, has transported almost 50 million guests from the Bodetal valley up to the Hexentanzplatz in 55 years and is now getting two more cabins: the Thale cable car adventure world.

With the opening of the Hexentanzplatz (Witches' Dance Floor) and the redesigned Harz Mountain Theatre, the "Thale Cable Car Adventure World" experienced a real boom in 2025 and set a new visitor record. A side effect was longer waiting times in the valley and on the mountain. This is now set to change: The number of cabins can be increased to 23.

The Harz district, as the responsible authority, has now approved this expansion. District Administrator Balcerowski presented the official notification. "With this expansion, the popular tourist attraction in the town of Thale is responding to growing demand, which means more satisfied visitors due to shorter waiting times," the District Administrator emphasized.

“Both additional cabins will be used on busy days to reduce peak waiting times,” explains cable car manager Pamela Groll. With the expansion to 23 cabins during peak hours, the cable car has reached its maximum capacity.

Erlebniswelt Seilbahnen Thale is an amusement park located in Thale, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

The park originally opened in 1970 with the opening of the first ropeway across the valley. In 2000 the park expanded with a new fun park
