Kühl to Open First East Coast Retail Store in Boston
20/June/2026
Kühl, the fiercely independent outdoor apparel manufacturer headquartered in Salt Lake City, has announced its first major retail expansion onto the East Coast. The premium brand is set to open its doors in Boston, Massachusetts, securing a prime retail location at 343 Newbury Street.
The upcoming Boston storefront marks Kühl’s sixth brick-and-mortar retail location nationwide. Known for its rugged, high-performance mountain gear and lifestyle apparel, the brand has historically focused its retail footprint in premium Western and Pacific Northwest outdoor hubs. Its current roster of stores includes Park City, Utah; Seattle, Washington; San Francisco, California; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and Boulder, Colorado.
Choosing Boston’s historic and heavily foot-trafficked Newbury Street shopping district represents a strategic leap into the North American East Coast market, bridging the gap between rugged mountain utility and urban outdoor culture.
Brand management noted that Boston’s unique history and identity played a major role in the site selection, drawing parallels between the city’s heritage and the company’s corporate philosophy.
“Kühl was built on a free, independent and rebellious mindset, and we feel that Boston has a similar kind of energy as a city deeply rooted in the same ideals,” said Sarah Scott, brand marketing spokesperson for Kühl. “It felt like a natural fit for our first East Coast location, and we are so excited to open our doors on Newbury Street and can’t wait to get to know this community and its outdoor culture.”
As a privately held, independent manufacturer in an outdoor industry increasingly dominated by large corporate conglomerates, Kühl has maintained a dedicated cult following for its innovative fabric blends, articulated designs, and durable craftsmanship.
The new Newbury Street location will showcase Kühl’s full range of men’s and women’s technical performance wear, travel gear, and mountain-born outerwear, introducing New England hikers, commuters, and outdoor enthusiasts to the brand’s signature style.
