Sweden's 2026/2027 national freeski team is ready

After a successful winter with top placings at the Olympics, World Cup, Junior World Championships and European Cup, the national freeski team for the 2026/2027 season has now been selected. The squad consists of nine skiers – a strong combination of established world stars and young talents who are now taking the next step towards the international top.

The freeski national team for the 2026/2027 season consists of four skaters in the A-team and five in the Team Svenska Spel U-team. The squad reflects the strong breadth that Swedish freeski has built up in recent years, with several young skaters now taking the next step while established names continue to compete for medals and podiums at the very highest level.

This past winter brought Swedish success on several levels – from the Olympics and the World Cup to the Junior World Championships and the European Cup – and now the focus is on a new season with high ambitions.

New era for the A-national team

The A-team is not just made up of new skaters – on May 1, Calle Eneflo took over as the new national freeski team captain. One of the most important building blocks for the upcoming season will be to create a strong group where the skaters develop together.

–"We have a very exciting squad with a nice mix of experience and young skaters who are on the rise. Our focus will be to build a strong team spirit where we push and inspire each other every day. When we get the group to function really well, we also create the best conditions for each individual to be able to perform at their highest level," says national team captain Calle Eneflo.

Jesper Tjäder, one of the world's best and most creative freeskiers, will continue to be part of the A-landaget in the 2026/2027 season. After last season's comeback from his knee injury, he immediately showed that he still belongs at the top of the world by placing fifth in slopestyle at the Milan/Cortina Olympics. During the championships, he also made headlines around the world with his famous ABBA flip.

Martin Nordqvist is stepping up to the A-national team after his big breakthrough season. During the winter, he put up great results and was selected for the Olympics, where he impressed with a final place in big air, and then also the first final place of his career at the World Cup final. After several years in the U-national team, he has now established himself on the international stage and has been rewarded with a place in the A-national team, and he has also been selected for SOK's support program Topp och Talang.

18-year-old Victor Knutsen continues his rapid development. After winning silver at the 2025 European Youth Olympics and making his World Cup debut the same year, he stepped up to the World Cup last winter. The experience quickly paid off and towards the end of the season he made it to his first World Cup final in slopestyle. Now he has been promoted to the A-national team and continues to take step after step in the right direction.

After a knee injury that ruined the entire Olympic season, Axel Burmansson is back. Before the injury, he established himself as one of Sweden's top skaters, including a World Cup final in slopestyle. Now he awaits a comeback with the aim of gradually returning to the world's top. Just like Martin, Axel is also part of SOK's support program Top and Talent.

Team Svenska Spel continues to develop the U-17 national team

The investment in the Team Svenska Spel U-national team continues to be an important part of the development of Swedish freeskiing. Thanks to Team Svenska Spel's long-term support, skaters can continue their efforts towards the world's top and have the chance to develop in the environment required to take the next step.

Ahead of the 2026/2027 season, the squad consists of five skaters, four of whom are new to the national team. Fabian Agartson will also step in as the new coach for the Team Svenska Spel U-national team for the upcoming season.

"This is a group with great development potential and a lot of drive. My goal is to create an environment where the riders develop together and build the habits necessary to take the next step in their careers, "says Fabian Agartson.

Tova Stål is the only skater remaining on the Team Svenska Spel U-national team from last season. After a period where Tova struggled with knee problems, she is now aiming for an injury-free winter where she can get the chance to show her full potential. With four Swedish Championship gold medals under her belt, she has the capacity to take the next step internationally.

Tuva Skanderby steps into the U-national team after an impressive European Cup season with four podiums in five starts. She has also made an impression at international events such as TBL Sessions in the USA and Jib League in Austria and will now be part of the national team's operations until the 2026/2027 season.

Frans Nederberg has gained valuable experience from the European Cup, where a third place in Font Romeu was the highlight of the season. During the Swedish Championships, he also took silver in slopestyle and is now rewarded with a place in the Team Svenska Spel U-national team.

Tage Wikström is coming off a solid season with several great results at the European Cup, where a sixth place in Trysil was his best result of the winter. He has also been one of the top riders on the Swedish Slopestyle Tour for several years and now gets a chance in the Team Svenska Spel U-national team.

Melvin Seliberg has had a brilliant season. After JVM gold in rail, double SM gold, overall victory in the Swedish Slopestyle Tour, he ended the season by winning Jesper Tjäder's prestigious competition Unrailistic in Åre. Both Melvin's results and drive now give him a place in the national team.
