seven riders selected for the swedish national snowboard team for the 2026/2027 season
08/July/2026
Several new names are taking the step into the Swedish national team when the national snowboard team presents the squad for the 2026/2027 season. With a young and hungry group, where both established talents and future names get the chance, the work of building the next generation of national team skaters now begins.
The national snowboard team for the 2026/2027 season consists of three skaters in the A-team and four skaters in the U-team. The squad is characterized by faith in the future, development potential and several exciting newcomers who have taken great strides forward at both the national and international levels in recent seasons.
National team captain Niklas Mattsson sees the upcoming season as the start of something long-term.
– We have a young group with great potential and many skaters who are about to take the next step in their careers. Our focus this coming season will be to build a strong team spirit where the skaters push, inspire and develop each other every day. This is how we create the conditions for future success, says Niklas Mattsson, national captain of the snowboard national team.

The A-team is ready for the next chapter
The A-national team for the 2026/2027 season consists of a trio of skaters who have taken great strides in recent years. They enter the new season with different experiences, conditions and individual goals, but with a common ambition to build a strong group where the skaters develop and push each other forward.
Novalie Engholm is set to make a long-awaited comeback. After a strong debut season at the 2024/2025 World Cup – where she was close to the final several times and finished in 15th place at best – a crash during the first World Cup competition in China put an end to the entire past Olympic season. After a strong rehab period, she is now looking forward to a comeback both on the board and in competition.
After five years in the U-team, Ruben Rosenfors is now taking the step up to the A-team. During the winter, he recorded a personal best at the World Cup with a 24th place in Laax, Switzerland, and has shown a steady development curve for several seasons, which is now rewarded with a place in the A-team.
The third rider in the squad is newcomer Mille Kåhrström, who after a breakthrough season is taking the step straight into the A-national team. Bronze in big air at the Junior World Championships, overall victory in the Swedish Snowboard Series (the highest competition series in Sweden) , several medals at the Swedish Championships and an invitation to Sven Thorgren's prestigious Rip Off Sessions are some of the highlights from a winter that has now resulted in a place in the A-national team.
Team Svenska Spel enables the next step for the U-17 national team
In parallel with the A-team, the investment in the U-team continues – an important platform for developing future World Cup skaters. Thanks to Team Svenska Spel's support, the operation can continue to give skaters the opportunity to combine long-term development with national and international competition. In the 2026/2027 season, the U-team consists of four skaters with both experience and future potential.
Lova Bäckström and Nias Hedberg retain their places in the development team. Lova has fought through several injury-filled seasons and underwent another operation during the winter with the goal of being able to make a comeback without pain and limitations next season. Nias accounted for Sweden's best result at the European Cup during the winter with a seventh place and continues to establish himself on the international stage.
At the same time, two new names are welcomed into the U-national team. Elsa Jaktlund impressed greatly during the past winter and was selected for the Junior World Championships, won the overall in the Swedish Snowboard Series, took home the unofficial Swedish Championship title in rail and Swedish Championship silver in both big air and slopestyle. Achievements that have now earned her a place in the U-national team.
Kalle Olofsson also takes a place in the U-national team after several seasons of strong results. Since the Swedish Championship gold in slopestyle in 2025, he has been knocking on the door for a national team spot and after a season that ended with a double victory in the Swedish Snowboard Series final in Åre, the step has now been taken.
