Pillersee Valley: From July 11th: Bike & Wander Xpress connects Tyrol and Salzburg
15/July/2026
Just in time for the start of the summer holidays, the new Bike & Hike Xpress will begin operating. From July 11th to August 30th, 2026, the Bike & Hike Xpress will connect the Fieberbrunn cable cars in Tyrol with the Leogang cable cars in Salzburg for the first time. This joint pilot project thus creates a direct and convenient connection between two Austrian states and two of the most popular biking and hiking regions in the Alps.
Whether mountain bikers, hikers, or families – the Bike & Hike Xpress offers all guests a convenient way to discover the mountain experiences of both regions. Mountain bikers can easily switch between the trails in Fieberbrunn and the Epic Bikepark Leogang or use the connection as part of the popular "The Challenge" circuit. Hikers can reach the starting points of diverse tours around the Wildseeloder in Fieberbrunn or the Asitz in Leogang. Families benefit from stress-free access to the "Timoks Wilde Welt" adventure park in Fieberbrunn and the "Berg der Sinne" (Mountain of the Senses) in Leogang – all without a car.
The bus service runs between the Fieberbrunn cable cars, the Hochfilzen train station, and the Leogang cable cars. A one-way ticket costs €5, a round-trip ticket €8. One child travels free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Strollers, wheelchairs, and up to 16 bicycles can also be transported.
This offer is made possible through the close collaboration of the Pillerseetal Tourism Association, the Saalfelden Leogang Tourism Association, and the Fieberbrunn and Leogang cable car companies. Together, the four partners are sending a strong signal for cross-border cooperation between Tyrol and Salzburg and creating an attractive mobility option that offers guests and locals greater flexibility for their biking and hiking experiences.

We are very pleased that the new Bike & Wander Xpress brings the excellent biking and family offerings of the two mountains closer together and improves the mutual exchange for locals and guests in both regions.
Anna Wimmer, Managing Director of Fieberbrunn Mountain Lifts
: “Around 10 years after the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang and Fieberbrunn ski areas merged via the TirolS gondola lift, we are now also comfortably, efficiently, and quickly connected in summer with the Bike & Wander Xpress. We are delighted that we can expand and strengthen our cross-regional cooperation and our summer offerings through a joint project!”
Christof Willms, Managing Director of the Pillerseetal Tourism Association:
“With the Bike & Hike Xpress, we are creating real added value for our guests. They can now discover the mountain experiences in Fieberbrunn and Leogang even more flexibly and leave their cars behind. This pilot project impressively demonstrates what close cooperation between the Pillerseetal and Saalfelden Leogang tourism associations and the Fieberbrunn and Leogang cable car companies across the border between Tyrol and Salzburg can achieve.”
