New DRYOUT x UAG Gear Collection Aims to Save Your Phone After a Day in the Snow

Anyone who's pulled a phone out of a jacket pocket after a powder day, only to find it fogged up or unresponsive, knows the problem: snow melts, moisture creeps into ports and seams, and by the time you notice, the damage may already be done. A new collaboration between materials company DRYOUT and device-protection brand Urban Armor Gear (UAG) is targeting exactly that scenario with a new line of bags, backpacks, and pouches built to actively pull moisture out of gear rather than just keep it out.

Built for the Moment Water Gets In

Most protective cases and bags are designed to block moisture from the outside. The problem, according to DRYOUT, is that once water or humidity finds its way in — through an aging seal, an open port, or condensation building up inside a pack — that same protective shell does nothing to get it back out. For skiers and snowboarders, whose phones, cameras, and other electronics are routinely exposed to snow, sweat, and rapid temperature swings between the lift line and the lodge, that's a familiar failure point.

DRYOUT's Active Moisture-Removal Technology is designed to address that gap. The technology uses a layered fabric built into the lining or structure of a bag or pouch that pulls moisture away from a device, traps it, and eventually releases it — working on both visible water and the hidden moisture that lingers in ports, seams, and internal compartments long after gear looks dry on the outside. Over time, that trapped moisture can cause corrosion, rust, shorted circuits, or foggy camera lenses — all common complaints among winter sports enthusiasts who stash electronics in a backpack for a day on the mountain.

How It Performs

According to independent testing cited by the companies, the technology absorbs more than ten times the moisture of a bowl of rice under controlled lab conditions, using a 6x12-inch test panel, and can actively draw moisture out of a device from up to six inches away — something rice and standard desiccant packs aren't able to do. The system requires no batteries, electricity, or chemicals, and resets for reuse after exposure to sunlight, direct heat, or airflow, typically within a few hours depending on conditions — practical for a multi-day ski trip where gear may get wet more than once.

A Collection for Everyday Carry

The DRYOUT x UAG lineup includes a tech tote, a roll-top backpack, a 22-liter backpack, a laptop sleeve, a tech sling, and dedicated rescue pouches sized for phones and AirPods — several of which map directly onto what skiers and riders already carry to the mountain, whether stashing a phone in a jacket pocket or packing a laptop and camera gear for a ski trip.

DRYOUT CEO Romney Williams said the partnership with UAG represents a step toward embedding the company's moisture-removal technology into everyday products, giving consumers a more effective way to protect devices they rely on daily. UAG Chief Brand Officer Casey Bevington said the collaboration extends the brand's protection focus beyond impact resistance and into active recovery from moisture exposure — a feature he said hasn't existed in this kind of gear before.

The collection launched globally on July 27, 2026, and marks the first time DRYOUT's patented material has been built directly into an everyday carry product line.
