Dachstein Salzkammergut Celebrates Grand Opening of Fuxi's Adventure Trail

The Dachstein Salzkammergut mountain railways and the Annaberg-Lungötz tourism association opened Fuxi's Adventure Trail in Annaberg-Lungötz on Monday, July 13, 2026.

After taking the Donnerkogelbahn cable car up the Dachstein West mountain, the guests of honor explored the new adventure trail together with mascot FUXI. A spacious climbing course, two marble runs, and the new, six-meter-high milk can play towers have been delighting visitors from the Tennengau region and the local population alike for the past few days. Numerous loungers by the reservoir offer a place to relax.

Rupert Schiefer, Managing Director of the Dachstein Salzkammergut cable cars and board member of Dachstein Tourism AG, Florian Rettenegger, Chairman of the Annaberg-Lungötz Tourism Association, and Mayor Martin Promok officially opened the new adventure trail with musical accompaniment. The blessing was performed by Father Placidus Schinagl OSB, Cooperator of the local parish association.

Afterwards, the guests of honor went to the Rottenhofhütte, where a great program of activities was also offered for the children. Face painting and a magic show with "Magie Max" provided excellent entertainment.

Milk Can Play Towers - XXL Climbing Fun!

The milk can play towers are a unique play structure with three large towers designed to resemble traditional milk cans. With a diameter of three meters and a height of six meters, they offer an impressive climbing experience for little explorers. Inside, children can climb to the very top using nets and various climbing elements. From there, a net tunnel and a mesh tunnel lead from one milk can to the next. The grand finale is a long tunnel slide that leads back down into the play area. An open slide, a climbing wall, and a cozy nest swing provide even more activity and variety. This creates a diverse adventure world full of movement, skill, challenges, and fun.

Climbing Course - The Adventure to Climb Through:

The climbing course offers a diverse range of physical activities for children and adults. Balancing, traversing, and climbing, participants make their way from one side to the other using various elements. The stations are lovingly designed to resemble typical winter and mountain sports equipment, including chairlifts, T-bars, sleds, and ski poles. This creates a playful experience that combines movement, balance, and dexterity in a particularly creative way.

Two marble runs

invite visitors to play and explore along the circular hiking trail. From a vending machine, visitors can purchase a branded wooden marble and send it on its way. The marble passes through various interactive stations such as a xylophone, a wave track, a glockenspiel, and a curved track. This creates sounds, movements, and surprises that ensure varied and fun play.
