Channel Islands Airline Aurigny Shifts Strategy for Winter Ski Flights with New Grenoble Charter Operator Sought

Guernsey’s flag carrier, Aurigny, has announced a change in strategy for its upcoming winter schedule, shifting its focus from scheduled routes to a new charter agreement for flights to the French Alps.

The airline confirmed it will not be running any traditional, scheduled Guernsey services to the region this winter. Instead, it is looking to enter a new charter partnership to maintain access to the popular slopes.

Shift to Charter Agreements

Aurigny stated it expects to secure a new agreement specifically for its services to Grenoble. Under this new structure, a third-party charter operator will determine the availability of flights.

The airline noted that while the focus will be on delivering a choice of winter holiday packages to the ski slopes, there may still be some limited "flight-only" options available, depending entirely on the final charter terms.

Winter Schedule Launched

Alongside the Alpine update, Aurigny officially launched its wider winter flight schedule. Chief Commercial Officer Philip Saunders emphasized that the network reflects the airline’s "unwavering commitment" to keeping the bailiwick connected throughout the colder months.

Saunders highlighted that while other crown dependencies often face steep reductions in routes and flight frequencies during the winter, Aurigny is prioritizing stability. The airline's winter lineup includes:

  • Direct services to Paris.

  • Increased frequencies to the Midlands.

  • Festive services to Edinburgh and Dublin to support family travel over the Christmas period.

Saunders said: "Our winter schedule reflects Aurigny's unwavering commitment to keeping the bailiwick connected with a comprehensive network that supports island life throughout the year.

"While other crown dependencies often see far more significant reductions in flight frequencies and routes during the winter months, Aurigny continues to provide the stability and continuity islands depend on; with direct services to Paris, more frequencies to the Midlands and festive services to both Edinburgh and Dublin to support important family ties at Christmas."
