Australian Resorts report fresh snow falling
29/July/2026
Australian resorts are reporting feeh snowfalls. SNOW is falling at Mt Buller where the mercury has not crept over -2 degrees. The temperature plummeted to -4 overnight and brought a fresh delivery of flakes to the resort in the early hours.
9cms of new snow was measured in the gauges when Ski patrol did their 7.30am morning checks and has continued to accumulate on the ski area with a steady wave of flurries reminding everyone that mid-winter is here.
Skiers and snowboarders are delighted with the improving cover and the resort is sparkling with frosted trees and cheesy smiles from the chairlifts. Flurries are expected to continue today, and the next few nights are expected to deliver cold temperatures ideal for snowmaking. Mt Buller mountain operations team is optimistic about opening additional terrain in the coming days if the forecast eventuates.
“It’s perfect timing for a snowy top up with one of our peak weekends of the season just around the corner,” said spokesperson Rhylla Morgan. “We’ll be skiing and boarding all day and making the most of a packed calendar of après events with NOVA broadcasting live in resort from tomorrow, rooftop après parties at the Arlberg, incredible pop-up dining with Chin Chin at the Ski Club of Victoria and a tonne of snow events on the program.”
Clearing skies are forecast into the weekend with bluebird days expected. Lift passes, accommodation, lessons and more are all available at mtbuller.com.au
Meanwhile, the snow is also falling at Perisher! After a run of bluebird days, a cool change swept through the resort, delivering 12cm of fresh snow last night and throughout the day.
