The Stubai Wild Ride once again brings together professional athletes and ambitious amateur skiers for the giant slalom race on the Stubai Glacier this year, under the motto "Epic Rides. Epic Valley." They all have to master the mix of steep sections, long gliding stretches, technical challenges, and the final fast descent to the finish.
The second edition of the former “ Wilde Grube Ride ” will take place on the Stubai Glacier under the new name “ STUBAI WILD RIDE ”, but with the same motto “ Epic Rides. Epic Valley. ” – the ultimate challenge and a giant slalom of the highest class! At this unique event, participants face one of the most spectacular and longest giant slalom courses in the Alps.
Covering a distance of over 6 kilometers , 920 meters of elevation gain and around 160 gates, the STUBAI WILD RIDE demands technique, endurance and top speed.
The iconic giant slalom, which takes place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, leads over the challenging course from the Wildspitz mountain station at 3,210 meters altitude to the middle station and is accompanied by an extensive supporting program with extended mountain railway operating hours.
The STUBAI WILD RIDE features a unique starting format: the "flying start ." Participants take the Wildspitz lift to the mountain station at 3,210 m and start the race directly from the chairlift through the starting gate . Without stopping, they head straight onto the course – full concentration and precise line choice are required from the very first second. This format allows for a dynamic pace, a continuous flow of racing, and an unparalleled experience in a high-alpine setting.
After a flying start from the "Wildspitz" chairlift at an altitude of 3,210 meters, the course descends 920 vertical meters and features around 160 gates to the Fernau mid-station. The ultimate challenge, demanding endurance, concentration, and skiing technique in equal measure, along with the mix of professionals and amateur athletes, the spectacular course, and the lively supporting program at the mid-station, make the Stubai Wild Ride so special.
The race is accompanied by a diverse supporting program. On Friday, April 17th, the official warm-up party with DJ in-Style & Friends will get visitors in the mood, before the opening ceremony takes place in the Neustift village pub in the evening. After the finish and the awards ceremony, the atmosphere will reach new heights on Saturday, April 18th: The after-race party with the Kronehit BergBeat Tour at the Fernau mid-station will provide a musical finale and festive fans celebrating against an impressive glacier panorama. For added convenience, the cable car operating hours will be extended on both days – special spectator tickets will also be available on site. This allows pedestrians without winter sports equipment to join the parties and cheer on the participants at the finish line.
