45th Graubünden Lift Co’ Championships held on the Jakobshorn in Davos

Once a year, the Graubünden mountain railway operators compete in a giant slalom to crown their ski and snowboard champions, as well as the 2026 Mountain Railway Team. This year, the championships were held on the Jakobshorn in Davos. Francesco Stern from the San Bernardino Arena secured the fastest time of the day and thus the Graubünden Mountain Railway Championship title. The coveted team victory also went to the San Bernardino Arena.

The Graubünden Mountain Railway Championships are held annually in a different location. On the Usser Isch slope on the Jakobshorn in Davos hosted the popular event. Davos Klosters Bergbahnen AG, in cooperation with the Swiss Snow Sports School Davos, welcomed around 200 racers – a new participation record – from all over Graubünden to the starting line. The competitors participated in various age categories for men and women in both skiing and snowboarding. The racecourse was in excellent condition, and the weather also looked promising with plenty of sunshine and only a few clouds. However, the light deteriorated in the second half of the race, and the youngest male participants had slightly reduced visibility. This didn't prevent Francesco Stern from the San Bernardino Arena from setting the fastest time of the day in the final category with 55.25 seconds. Among the women, Laura Hudry from Engadin St. Moritz Mountains AG achieved the best time with 55.49 seconds. Silvan Reifler of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG won the men's snowboard championship title with a time of 1:11.85, followed by the newly crowned women's snowboard Graubünden champion Natalia Romer, also of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG, with a time of 1:19.81.

The highlight of the day is always the announcement of the team competition results. The times of the three fastest racers from each mountain railway are tallied. After two consecutive years in first place, Rinerhorn AG was relegated to second place by the San Bernardino Arena team of Francesco Stern, Mattia Ballarin, and Matteo Wolf. Engadin St. Moritz Mountains AG secured third place.

After the official awards ceremony on the terrace of the Bolgen Plaza restaurant, all participants in the 2026 Graubünden Mountain Railway Championships received a modern cap as a souvenir and farewell gift. Then came the surprise: Team captain San Bernardino showered his teammates with champagne.

Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a relaxed get-together and toasted to a successful 2025/26 winter season with many satisfied guests. And those who stayed longer in Davos didn't miss the after-party at the Tijuana Bar.
