Skilled worker shortage in the mountains: BFI Pinzgau launches new training course for cable car technicians

The demands placed on modern cable car systems are constantly increasing – as is the need for highly qualified specialists. With the preparatory course for the external apprenticeship examination in cable car technology, the BFI Pinzgau, together with the LBS Hallein as a competence center for cable car technology, is taking a strong step against the shortage of skilled workers and opening up a path to a recognized qualification for experienced employees via continuing education.

This course is particularly aimed at colleagues who already possess extensive practical experience and wish to formally secure their professional qualifications. It begins in mid-September 2026 and is designed for individuals already working in the cable car sector who wish to further develop their skills within their company.

This course provides intensive, work-integrated preparation for the final apprenticeship examination to become a cable car technician. They will inform you about the cable car technology course, the collective bargaining agreement and labor law advantages of completing the apprenticeship, and the examination procedure. They are also available to answer any questions you may have regarding further educational opportunities!

The course prepares you for the final apprenticeship examination and provides the qualification to work as a highly trained specialist on the highly technical and complex systems of a cable car company.

The preparatory course, which has been successfully offered for many years, trains highly qualified specialists and is regularly booked by companies throughout Austria. The training program is very popular because it uniquely combines practical relevance, high quality, and the collaboration of experienced trainers with classroom instruction at the Competence Center for Cableway Technology at the LBS Hallein vocational school. Participants benefit from training that is directly geared towards the demands of everyday operations while simultaneously ensuring a high level of professional expertise.

To give interested companies and employees a detailed insight into the process, costs and compatibility with ongoing operations, an information evening will be held:

  • Date : Wednesday, May 20, 2026

  • Time : From 6:00 PM

  • Location : BFI Pinzgau, Ebenbergstraße 1, 5700 Zell am See
